Moved , seconded, and passed unanimously to accept the treasurer' s report as read Chairman' s report Sem appointed two members of the council, A Green and S Clark, to the ad hoc nominating committee Sen read a letter to Ted Petterson, minister of the Church of Our Redeemer, re our desire to rent enlarged space at the Church of Our Redeemer Patterson is taking the request to his church committee for consideration Staff report Council told that the Weekly Reports are discontinued for an indefinite time Joyce Lee MacAteer, Field Rep for the DEA, wants to receive a copy of our monthly meeting minutes and will attend some of our meetings herself — O,005 M hV/V.0 op (:(111114 5 1 $W a" RVPI 19*M ��MOTO� ( 2) CoA Meeting of April 8, 1980 Raytheon has offered office furniture and supplies to the CoA office Weinstein suggests that, as well as making a list of furniture which we would like, we should explore the possibility of donations other than good4 i e scholarship donations for MOW A letter from Ruth Sawyer, MOW coordinator, was read re donations received to support clients in need In response to a statement from Melcher that we go out for our own funds in order to get a Human Services Center Weinstein disagreed and made a strong statement that we must convince the town of Lexington that it is the responsibility of the town to appropriate town money for the purpose of creating a Senior Center Weinstein urges that we form a users group to be used as a political force Ann Paranya, the Coordinator of Friendly Visitors , is moving away from town MOTION Moved, seconded, and passed unanimously to give a farewell gift to Paranya Chairman's report Sen and Weinstein reported on a meeting with Janet Clark, MMHC nutrition coordinator MMHC already has two sites on hold An application must be in by October 1980 We have six weeks to put a package together a Write a needs assessment b Respond to available transportation ( Lexpress ) c Specify a possible site ACTION MOTION Moved, seconded , and passed unanimously that we prepare an application for a nutrition site and submit to MMHCC Personnel committee Rubin reported that there was no action as yet Friends of the CoA Coordinator MacDonald was absent because of personal problems Melcher reported that the Friends plan to have a fund raising barn sale soon after Labor Day Collections are already being made and stored in a barn owned by Bob Howard Because of difficulty in finding a free day in May for an Older American' s Month luncheon it was suggested that we tie in with MCC program scheduled for June 4th at the Rennedy Center The program is called Seniors Teaching Seniors Hours are 9 00 a m to 2 00 p m Rubin is looking for seniors who would like to participate as teachers New business Rubin urged the CoA prepare a long term plan of programs Planning package to include a A users ' study as compiled by senior user-advisors b A floor plan of a model senior center 3 A photographic study for presentation of activities in the present CoA center 4. Further polishing of a position paper as compiled by Melcher. ( 3) CoA Meeting of April 8, 1980 The CoA must attach a rider of pertinent questions to be used in aiding the search for a needs assessment as voted in Town Meeting The sum appropriated was $7500 MOTION Whereas the CoA desires to work gith a senior site group, architect, planners , pollsters, users, Selectmen, etc , be it resolved that a S} IJIOR CENTER STANDING COMMITTEE be established with the purpose of serving as liason to all persons involved in the implementation of a Lexington Senior Center MOTION Moved, seconded , and passed unanimously to adjourn at 9 05 p m Sign y 1�Cu 71'/AO,49/404(--t- Elise V Morehouse Secretary, pro tem
