MINUTES OF MEETING ON

The meeting was called to order at 7 11.5 p.m
MOTION Moved, seconded, and unanimously approved to accept the
Minutes of November 16 as sent out
Treas Carlson submitted his reports

Expenses as presented

the Status of 1978 Budget as of December 14, 1977 as presented
The Ad Floc Committee (Ann Paranya and Frayda Cooper) reported.
that a list had been compiled of all organizations in the community
who have any contact with the elderly. A sample letter was distri-
buted to the Council, and the revised copy will be sent to all
organizations, asking them to participate in an Advisory Committee
A discussion followed concerning the purposes of such an Advisory
group and what is hoped will come out of the meetings.
W. Sen read a notice from the Lexington Minuteman concerning
a meeting on December 19 at the Town Offices relative to Revenue
Sharing Funds A meeting was held on December 10 at the home of
Roy Weinstein, Louis Tropeano of the Senior Citizens Club, Jack
Gardner of AARP, F. Cooper and W. Sen attending Prime objective
of all groups was a senior center F. Cooper suggested that a
proposal also be made for a Van with a lift A call is to be made
to Ann Downey at the Dept of Elder Affairs about the cost.
MOTION Moved , seconded, and unanimously approved that the Council
apply for Funding for Planning Purposes for a Senior Center
and for a Van with a lift
Ch Sen reported on Budget FY ' 79 and the presentation he had
made before the Comptroller and Town Manager

Minutes of Meeting on December 15, 1977
F. Cooper stated that the Human Services Committee of the FORUM
felt that a Warrant Article on a Senior Center should come from the
Council rather than from the Human Services Committee Discussions
are under way by that committee on congregate housing, well elderly,
social worker at CoA to counsel on nursing homes and medicaid,
and transportation Health group of FORUM is working on congregate
housing for frail elderly.
Coordinator J Melcher reported on a long range of activities
during the month just passed . Among many ---

Middlesex Community College Course, Board Training for Councils on
Aging (once a week for 12 weeks) Nedra Shulkin is taking notes.
Newsletter ready to go out Plans under way to send it once a
month.
FISH aided on transportation for East Village Drop in Center
Christmas Bus a success What do about January?
Trip to the Opera at Tufts successful despite bad weather
Traveling Christmas Party planned to view neighboring town
decorations, Prudential, Boston Common, etc.
Holiday Parties were a great success
More Friendly Visitors needed
( Vial of Life Program explained
Grocery Shopping has eight for the month
Trying to find kids in town to do shoveling of snow for elderly.
Course being offered in Acton for Friendly Visiting - anyone interested?
