Paranya, J Stumpp Absent: S Clark Guests : Nedra Shulkin, CETA worker; Jean Wood, B.0 student MOTION Minutes unanimously approved as sent out. The Treasurer presented a BUDGET SHEET with budget vs. actual expenditures for the years FY ' 76 , ' 77, ' 78 , to date MOTION Moved, seconded, and unanimously approved that the Treasurer' s report be accepted The Treasurer presented the following bills , as of October 21 Salary - J. Melcher $500 00 Stationery 12 82 23 26 Telephone 64 07 U S Post Office 300 00 (previously approved) P. 0. Box rental . 14 .00 Total $914 15 MOTION Moved, seconded, and unanimously approved that the above bills presented by the Treasurer be approved. Comment was made that new Copier places are appearing in town in addition to Ingalls - this in connection with xeroxing address labels. The Treasurer then discussed the Special Fund and how the accounting should proceed in the future. He has two categories in this fund (1) trips; (2) Meals on Wheels He suggested that we use standard accounting procedures for these two areas Formerly, all checks were photostated, and he does not need them It was decided that decisions on these items be taken care of by the Chairman and the Coordinator Ch Sen informed the Committee that it was necessary to submit the FY ' 79 Budget before the meeting (copy given to each member) . He telephone-polled every member of the CoA before he submitted the Budget to the Town Budget presented is for $21 , 220 Ch Sen attended a meeting of the Board of Health where Tri- community Health Service indicated it had on hand $500 for an educational program at Vynebrooke and Greeley A discussion ensued concerning what other Boards are doing in the way of reviewing corollary items of interest in the budget It was suggested that during the coming year we be in touch with those groups dealing v ' ,. the elderly Education going on at Congregate Meals under o° - `o Home Care Corporation was discussed ' . M1 ti �i t i �!t�ctor MINUTES OF MEETING of October 26, 1977 Lexington Council on Aging ( The following report was given by the Coordinator, Joan Melcher. "The CoA Council Members and Coordinators Course will be given by Middlesex Community College at the John F Kennedy School Monday mornings and evenings , starting in December Another course will be given Thursday mornings , "Techniques of Working with the Aged", taught by Jane Adolph Both courses are free of charge The second Coordinators Meeting has been held, with six towns represented Ch Sen was present. The group meets about once every four or five months to swap ideas and keep up to date on activities of other CoAs Minutes of these meetings may be seen at the CoA office Discussion centered around office volunteers, office pro- cedures, resource books, and the sharing of news and ideas for newsletters The next meeting is scheduled for March 8, 1978. Different communities have different methods for mailing the newsletter to save on costs A visit was made to the Winchester CoA and a conference held with Sara Dillon, who gave a great deal of valuable information. Other CoA offices will be visited in this area soon John Mahoney volunteered a bus to take people from the Villages to get their flu shots at Cary Hall Thank you notes will be written by the presidents of both villages. The trip to the Cathedral in the Pines plus lunch was a great success - 129 people enjoyed themselves Dana House is having an Open House this Sunday from 3-5 p m Members of the CoA are invited Please submit to me any articles of interest you find in newspapers and magazines " Ch Sen reported that the Annual Report must be written soon - no letters as yet received concerning this Discussion of the proposed draft of the CoA Rules followed. A revised copy is enclosed The Rules will be presented at our November 16 meeting for Council approval Frayda Cooper reported on the activities of the Forum on Aging An Advisory Committee Meeting is scheduled for November 3. She presented some possible Forum on Aging Warrant Articles in the area of Human Services These will be under discussion as the Human Services committee meets MOTION Moved, seconded, and unanimously approved that Frayda Cooper be a representative of the CoA on the Forum on Aging inas- much as she is already on the Forum on Aging Committee and is now a member of the CoA MOTION by Roy Weinstein Resolved, The CoA expresses its thanks to the 1976-77 CoA Officers for their leadership and for a job well done Seconded, and unanimously approved The next meeting date was set for November 16 at 7 30 p m MOTION Moved, seconded and passed unanimously that a bill just received from the Graphics Department of the baiNw2tf2 M R for $63 00 for Newsletter No 9 be approved Ch Bill Sen reported on the meeting he attended on October 24 in Boston of the Massachusetts Council of Older Americans MINUTES OF MEETING OF October '/6 , 1977 Lexington Council on Aging Christina Miller indicated that she would like to have the goals and objectives for the year 1977-78 clarified Joan Melcher reported on the requests for a bus at least once a week during the holiday season MOTION Moved, seconded, and 8 out of 9 members present voted r that the CoA give Coordinator Joan Melcher the authority to arrange for a Holiday Bus to operate on Fridays from Nov. 18 through December 23 The meeting adjourned at 10 30 p m Respectfully submitted, /3 Dorothy B Williams Secretary
