MINUTES

1 The meeting was called to order at 7 45 P M by Ch. Jane Stumpp Min-
utes for the October 13th meeting were approved as distributed
2 Scott Plumb, Co-ordinator of Arlington CoA, is interested in discussing
the possibility of congregate meals with us Some objection was voiced ;
feeling expressed that M-M Vocational could do this However, meals
they now provide are regular $1 85 lunches, not low cost meals It was
agreed to listen to Scott at our next meeting, Nov 10th; also, to
invite Mr Godsoe of Grace Chapel to explore possible use of the Belfry
Club as a meal site.
3 Co-ordinator's Report
a Open House Tea Committee has been arranged High School Madrigal
Singers will perform at 3 30 P M The Town will pay bill for the F
custodian, etc at Cary Hall All arrangements for mikes, etc
have been made with the superintendent Invitations have been
mailed
b Spoke to Lexington Ministers' Meeting on Tues , Oct 26th, and
( think it went well Ministers invited to attend Friendly Visitor
training sessions
c Ann Paranya will take over Friendly Visitor Program, (except for
calls to CoA office) interviewing visitees before assigning visitors
to them Reactions and reports on visits made so far have been good
d The Newsletter was mailed on Tuesday
e Transportation escorts have been arranged up to December 3rd
f Still trying to contact Mr Dvorak, Director, Symmes Hospital,
about Meals-on-Wheels
g Possible next trip to see Where 's Boston? show at Prudential Center.
Bus cost $75 per bus
h Claire Dean, of Colpitts Travel, is interested in arranging trips
for senior citizens Possible Bermuda trip in April which could be
advertised in January Newsletter (A caution was voiced by the
Council against favoring any one travel agency )
4 Mrs Stumpp read a letter from Helen Gillam of M-M Vocational School
suggesting that their nursing aide students might be used in Senior
Citizen activities , home care, etc Mrs. Jackson raised questions
about the degree of supervision these students would have and said
that Tri-Community Health Services should be consulted Council mem-
bers concurred Mrs Jackson will talk with Jayne Tapia , and ask Mrs
Gillam to contact Tri-Community

It was moved, seconded, and voted to approve these bills
6 Budget
Mrs Ritter supplied figures for CoA basic expenditures to date as
a basis for the F78 budget. There is an unexpended balance of $563 92
from the original $5,000 grant, and a balence of $729 50 from the
State Grant of $2 ,000 to pay a co-ordinator F77 funds have not yet
been used Major expenditures so far include $1 ,270 50 Co-ordinator' s
salary; $884 05 postage for mailing Newsletter;printing and miscellan-
eous expenses for Newsletter, $359 56; Home Care Corp F76 and F77,
$2 ,428 00 ; one bus trip, $288 00 Telephone bills have not exceeded
$65 per month
Projected budget for F78 is
Home Care Corporation $2,500 00
Newsletter (7 issues) 2, 800 00
CO-Ordinator - 25 hours per week @ $5 per hour 6,500 00
Special programs and hospitality 1 ,000 00
Transportation shuttle 2,000. 00
Office Expense Telephone, $800 00 supplies, $400 00 1 ,200 00
Bus trips, recreation 1 , 500 00
$17, 500 00
7 Mrs Williams quoted Jeff Shaw on proper procedure for submitting a
Warrant Article to increase the size of the Council After the notice
about Warrant Articles appears in the Minute-Man,a simple statement of
the Council 's wishes should go to the who will re-phrase

8 Mrs Williams suggested that a letter of thanks be sent to Dave Eagles
for his co-operation on the transportation program.
9. Mrs Stumpp clarified items for the Nov 7th Open House As Chair-
person, she will make introductory remarks explaining the functions
of the CoA ; Joan Melcher will talk about the programs and activities
that have been accomplished so far. Introductions of other Council
members will be made
10 Mrs Stumpp also announced that the CoA has been allotted a page in
the Annual Town Report It was agreed that part of the space should
be used for a picture
11 Agenda for the next meeting, November 10th was set.
7 30 - 8 30 Reports and general business
8 30 Scott Plumb will discuss Title VII and congregate meals
12 The meeting adjourned at 9 40 P.M
