B.Weiss (LWV) , H,Smith, D,Williams, J Zoerheide SbA° I MY4.4er 1 . The meeting was called to order at 7 50 P.M. by Ch. Jane Stumpp. Minutes for the meeting of March 10, 1976 were approved as dis- tributed 2, Ch. Stumpp read the letter she had sent to the Town Manager rec- ommending that Mrs. Dorothy Williams be appointed to fill out Helen Sullivan's term, and also requesting that if CoA membership is to be enlarged, it be increased to 11 members. No reply to this letter had been received Mrs. Stumpp also read a copy of a letter written by Jeff Shaw to the Senior Citizens Club informing them that the Town Office could no longer pay for mailing their newsletter It was suggested that the Senior Citizens Club be invited to include their newsletter with the C'oA's. Mrs. Stumpp said she would write to Mr. Melbye, tith a copy to the Minute-Man, explaining the CoA ' s position and suggesting ways of co-operating. 3. Mrs Williams reported that she has learned that some CoA' s have ob- tained non-profit mailing status, and that we can also apply Mrs. Ritter offered to pursue this matter. 4. Mrs. Williams noted that a direct question had been asked at Town Meeting about the $2 , 500 which has hitherto been used for Sr. Citizen Club bus trips. The answer was given that the $2,500 would definite- ly continue to be used for that purpose , which differs from state- ments made to the CoA by the Town Manager and the Appropriations Committee. Mrs, Stumpp will try to check this out. 5. Mrs Melcher reported on her work to date. She referred to the Council a call asking for help in finding a nursing home It was suggested that she call the Mass Association of Nursing Homes and also the State Dept . of Public Health for information and assistance Mrs. Melcher also reported on her visit to the Winchester CoA and said she had received useful ideas for office organization. 6. Harvey Smith reported that he is a member of the committee to locate office space in Lexington for the Minute-Man Home Care Corporation. 7. A report on job qualifications for a co-ordinator,developed by Ann Paranya, Merion Ritter, and Jean Zoerheide , was presented for dis- cussion. Several corrections and additions were made, A corrected report will be prepared and filed until such time as we are in a position to hire a co-ordinator 8. Names of additional people who might be willing to serve on the CoA were discussed 9. Attention was called to the meeting of Central Region III Councils on Aging at Follen Church, East Lexington, on Friday evening, March 26. 10. The Newsletter is ready for mailing. Mrs Williams reported on the enthusiastic help she had received from many volunteers 11. There was a brief discussion of future plans , and of the need to invite representatives of organizations like FISH to meet with the CoA, 12. The next meeting of the CoA was set for Tuesday, April 13, 1976. The meeting adjourned at 9 05 P.M Respectfully submitted Ann G.Paranya Secretary
