ThediscussionthattheDepartmentofPublicFacilitiesisworkingwithRWSullivanto helpdevelopenergystandardsforalltownbuildingprojectsforfuturerenovationand constructionproject.Mr.NewellinformedthegroupthathehopestoupdatetheECConwhat theprocesswouldentailatthenextmeeting. AnupdateoftheSolarRooftopprojectswithmostoftheinstallationsalready completed.Wearehopingforaninterconnectionofalltherooftopsystemssometimeduring themonthofDecember.TheTownofLexingtonendedupwithatotalsystemsizeof1.1MWfor ourrooftopproject.Therooftopprojectendedupbeingthe2ndlargestschoolrooftopproject inthestate.We'llhopetosendoutanotewithanofficialinvitationtotheribboncuttingevent Αorcircuitbreakerthrowingeventwhenwegetthateventscheduled.Itwouldbewonderfulif youcouldattend. 3)UpdatefromDPW DPWDirectorBillHadleyhadupdatedtheECConhowtheHartwellAveSolarsiteis progessing.ApresentationtotheBoardofSelectmenhappenedonMondaynightΑDecember1st. We'vebeenworkingonthelandfillprocesssinceconstructionbeganontherooftopproject.Wehad 8vendorsrespondtoourRFQ,wenarroweddownto4excellentvendors,thento2,andfinally ofBrightfields/SolarCity/AdvancedSolarProducts.Asmanyofyou selectedtheteamconsisting mayknow,Brightfieldsisactingastheleaddeveloper.TheyarealocalMassachusettscompanythat hasanationalreputationforexcellenceinmanaginglandfill/brownfieldsremediationprojects. ManywouldsuggestthatSolarCityisthepremiersolarfinancierinthecountryandtheydobring extraordinaryfinancialresourcestotheproject.AdvancedSolarProductswillbetheinstallation teamΑtheirtechnicalstrengthimpressedusbothduringtherooftopRFQprocessandevenmoreso whenitcametotheirproposalforthegroundmountsystems. Wearenowintheprocessofdefiningthescopeoftheproject,whichincludesworkingwith themanystakeholdersintheTowntodeterminehowmuchlandtheTowniswillingtodedicatetoa solararrayattheCompostingFacilityonHartwellAvenue.Asmostofyouknow,theTownis currentlyusingtheHartwellfacilityforanumberofpurposesincludingacompostingfacility providingyardwastedropoffservicestoLexingtonresidents,localcontractors,andtheTownof Arlington,aHazardousWasteDisposalFacility,aPoliceFiringRange,andseveralotherfunctions. OurgoalisthattheinstallationofasolarfacilitywouldprovidesignificantbenefitstotheTownwithout disruptinganyessentialTownservices.TothatendandbasedontherecommendationofBillHadley, DirectorDPW,andRobertBeaudoin,HartwellAvenueSiteManager,Brightfieldshashiredanengineerwith landfill.BruceHaskellhasconductedareviewofourHartwell extensiveknowledgeandexperiencewithour AvenuefacilityandwillbemakingrecommendationstotheBoardofSelectmenonMondaynightregarding hisrecommendedoptionsforrestructuringtheuseofthefacilitytoallowtheinstallationofsolarwhile maintainingallessentialTownservices. mayremember,ourRFQaskedvendorstopropose3systemsizesthatwoulduseupto12acresof Asyou landthatwehadincludedintheAnaerobicDigesterRFQ.Brucewillbepresentinganoptionfora1.25MW useabout4acresofland.He groundmountarraythatwouldeliminateArlington'syardwastedropoffand willalsoshowa2.5MWgroundmountoptionusingabout8.5acresoflandthatwouldrequirereducingthe amountofyardwastedropofffromlocalcontractorsΑwhocurrentlybringyardwastetothefacilityfrom7 surroundingtowns.Inbothcases,dropoffofyardwasteforLexingtonresidentswouldnotbeimpactedin anyway.TherewouldbenoimpactonotheressentialTownactivitiesliketheHazardousWastedropoff facilityandthepolicyfiringrange. Wewillalsobeconsideringtheconstructionof1or2largesolarcanopiesofabout500kWinsizeeachthat couldbelocatedovertheHazardousWastedropoffareaandtheLexingtonresidentyardwastedropoff area. 4)Communicationstatus DonHolmesandMichaelSegalwerealsoinattendancetoaskifthecommitteehowtheycould goaboutbecomingmembersoftheECC. 5)Ongoingprojects
