Minutes of Wednesday, April 24, 2001
Present: Barbara Ciampa, rosalyn Gittleman
Steve Baran, Steve Kelly,
Cathy Abbott, Christine Yedica
Absent: Helen Cravis, Robert Dentler,
Khalil Khatri
Agenda items: Discussion & decisions made:
1. Minutes from 3/28/01 meeting were
presented. Further questions were
raised concerning Replace and it's
capacity to handle crisis coverage
in the form of "Live human contact."
Steven Baran excused himself from
the meeting, made a call to Replace
& found he would have been put
through to a person if it had been
and actual crisis call.
2. Robin Zucker, prospective member:
Steve Baran will be contacting Robin
and requesting her resume and letter
of intent to become a HSC member.
3. Review of memberships and resignations:
Barbara Ciampa's and Ros Gittleman's
resignation from the HSC committee
were announced. Barbara encouraged
all members to consider people
they know for possible committee
membership
4. Request was made for Bob Dentler's
H.S.C. minutes

mental health survey to be put on the
agenda for 5/23/01 meeting.
5. Liaison Reports:
Barbara Ciampa/Early Childhood Education -
- parent-teacher-school association
to assist parents/families w/ young
children entering school system.
- parents are pushing for more reading
at a younger age while teachers
are requsting parents be informed
about childhood growth & deve;p[,emt
Roz Gittleman/Domestic Violence
Response Team -
- LexFest is June 24th this
year and the domestic violence
response team will be having a
booth this year
- The annual dinner/fundraiser
will be happening soon (date
unclear). This is the major
fund raiser for the domestic
violence team and is always
well attended
Christine Yedica/Council on Aging-
- Sub-committee is being
formed for site evaluation
for senior center.
- Council on Aging brochure is
being perused by committee
and will be ready for print
in next month or so
- Laborious process of senior
center site evaluation

are continuing. Christing has been
asked to be on the C.O.A. sub-
committee of the Senior Center's
national accreditation process.
6. Cathy Abbot presented information on
Council on Aging sub-committee for
information gathering and analysis to
facilitate new site considerations.
Sites being currently considered are;
Harrington School, Walgreens on Mass.
Ave, Munro Center for the Arts,
and the D.P.W. facility on Bedford St.
7. Steve Baran presented a self-survey for
the town's committees. This survey
needs to be completed by the end of
this fiscal year, June 30th.
Barbara Ciampa requested members give
some thought to the Committee's work
and progress through this last year so
as to allow completion of the
survey, thoroughlyt and skillfully.
