Presentation by RePlace
School services. Groups at Fiske and Estabrook; individual counseling at Estabrook.
Avalon housing development• boys identified through their behaviors in popular, activity-
based group; planning was undertaken with parents and management. Parents have
requested a girls group. Questions would management help with funding? Funding
through Mass. Service Alliance for Mentoring Programs?
New RePlace office. good location, welcoming, cozy environment. Landlord is
responsible; no problems with neighbors.
Continuing relationship with Hancock: RePlace receives a$2,000 annual grant and has
pledge of their continuing support.
Increased demandfor services. evaluation can play a role in determining service
priorities (Helen); advisability of seeking additional funding, based on town leveraging,
to keep up with demand (Barbara)—to this end, document percentages of support from
town, state, etc. Also, break down percentage-wise proportion of grant going into various
kinds of services.
Billing and reporting• does billing underreport services?Volunteer recommended,
possibly through tax work-off program to assist with data base revisions.
Relationship with high school. RePlace has become an established presence. Case
management program under funding separate from town grant is the only funding source
for high school services. If this finding is not available next year, RePlace may have to
fall back on the town contract. The RePlace social worker is receiving increasing referrals
from students. She is supported by the Guidance Director and is part of staff meetings
which include Elaine Sterzin, grant coordinator.

Seivices at Diamond, Fiske and high school. increased volume complimented by Helen.
Both chairs emphasize importance of bringing need for funding to the attention of the
high school principal and grant coordinator.
Domestic violence• booth at LexFest! (May 20)to be co-sponsored by the Human
Services Committee,police and schools. Helen asked for suggestions as to how the booth
should be named and called for volunteers.Nancy suggested leaving brochures at other
tables as well. The task force is seeking an expanded membership. Support Committee for
Battered Women. Roz reported on Voice for Justice Fundraising Dinner, Wednesday
April 12, $50 per person, at the Charles River Motel. Roz called for a Lexington table.
P.A.T.H. High School Program. fox homosexual mothers who have children in the
Lexington schools. Six months ago a home on Concord Avenue was vandalized with
graffiti. The group addresses the risk of teen suicide. Barbara would like them to make a
presentation at a Human Services Committee meeting in the future (when there is full
membership). She has been participating in the Lexington 2020 Vision Sense of
Community Work Group and commented on implications for the structure of the
community
Steve Kelly reviewed his experience with the DMR advisory board, developmentally
disabled ex-offenders and parole system, and substance abuse. The process for becoming
a committee member was explained. A package of material explaining the background of
the Human Services Committee will be sent to Steve at 67 Farmcrest, 02421
Next meeting March 22 at the Senior Center.
