Is tutoring appropriate for the Peer Leadership Program since the tutors are not formally qualified as educators?What are their credentials and academic accountability?What training have they received? If the student tutors were well trained and well supervised, the program would be justified. 2. Other than through tutoring,what other means could be used to increase the peer leaders' self esteem? Wayside Contract 1. Eva Glick raised question about putting the contract out to bid. Helen Cravis and Steve Baran expressed their sense that RePlace had become an accountable and well run program taking responsibility for leadership of youth services in the community 2. Nancy Freed commented that RePlace had not shown interest in managing a drop in center, but ( the future of such a project awaited planning of an intergenerational center A drop in center is of special interest to middle school parents. 3 Helen Cravis asked if RePlace might consider spinning off' innovative initiatives such as the Domestic Violence Response Team thereby allowing them to develop new programs. Liaison Reports 1 Domestic Violence Response Team—they are expanding their membership. Should they collaborate with the Concord court?The Kaufman forum on the family and the law gave evidence of generally improved communication around domestic violence among towns in the area. 2. Preschool—It was suggested that the Committee alert the Selectmen as to the extent of preschool need. What are the results of Communities United survey on this subject? Report to Town Meeting Helen Cravis and Christine Yedica volunteered to assist Steve Baran in preparation of the Human Services Committee Annual Report. Affordable Housing Steve Baran referred to the issue of affordable housing as a social policy concern that is being addressed by the Fair Housing and Human Relations Committee. The Human Services Committee might wish to be involved in looking into this as well. PersonaVhsmin
