Pucci; Gregory Kotonias-Payne, M.D Steve Baran (recorder) Absent: Julie Fenn Minutes of 8/6/97 Corrections: Lauren MacNeil was not present although listed as present. Helen Cravis was present although not mentioned. Greg Kotonias-Payne was present as an observer The minutes were otherwise accepted as correct. Resignation of Jolley Anne Weinstock/Introduction of new Co-Chairs Jolley Anne tendered her resignation to the committee commenting that her four years as chair were satisfying and busy She praised the committee members for their devotion, hard work and ability to work together as a team. Jolley Anne will be available in the future as an interested citizen. Jolley Anne introduced Barbra Ciampa and Helen Cravis as new co-chairs explaining that it was the tradition of the committee to pass on the chair responsibility in this manner Goals and priorities for FY '98 Preschool Committee input has been incorporated into the attached work plan. See, in particular comments on need, committee contributions to the process, and possible further directions. Youth services Steve commented that RePlace showed low utilization during FY '97 Since the school year was just getting underway it was felt best to defer a discussion of RePlace progress until October, also possibilities for FY '99 appropriations. It was noted that contract will go out to bid this coming spring. Some of the topics Human Services Committee Minutes 9/3/97 Page 2 that were briefly mentioned as meriting further discussion were: possible duplication of services between school counselors and RePlace counselors, funding for young people who prefer to begin counseling without telling their parents and confidentiality issues. Selectmen Liaison It was agreed that the new co-chairs would meet with Leo McSweeney, Selectmen liaison. Review Human Services Committee charge and policy revisions A subcommittee of the co-chairs will review draft versions of the charge and policy and report back at the next meeting. Rick Safford submitted a further revision of the policy statement. Membership Steve will call Julie Fenn to ascertain her interest in continuing as a full or associate ( member Her term of membership ends in September Other members whose memberships end in September--Roz Gittleman and Eva Gllick-- announced their desire to continue. Greg Kotonias-Payne and Linda G. Pucci will be interviewed in regard to their interest in serving on the Human Services Committee at the next meeting of the Human Services Committee. Linda will be interviewed at 7 p.m. and Greg at 7 15 p.m. Acknowledgment of service by Jolley Anne Weinstock Committee members strongly affirmed their appreciation of Jolley Anne s contribution to the committee and to human services in Lexington.
