Minutes of 4/2/97 and 5/16/97
Nancy noted that she should have been shown as present in the minutes of 4/2/97 The
minutes of 5/16/97 were accepted as correct.
Report on Health PAC meeting of 5/19/97
Steve and Nancy reported on the Health PAC meeting of 5/19/97 Health PAC is
creating a Community Health Promotion Task Force for the purpose of building a sense
1 of community around drug abuse issues. This will be a school/town joint venture with
membership spearheaded by parents. Between $2,000 - $4,000 will be available as
funding from the PTA Council. Jeffrey Young, Superintendent of Schools, will be asked
to join Rick White, Town Manager in endorsing the new Task Force. Tentative plans
are to feature an op ed in the Minuteman and create a video. Steve suggested that the
Committee consider appointing a liaison to HealthPAC. Jennifer Wolfrum, Health
Coordinator at the high school and a key person in HealthPAC, will attend a future
meeting of the Human Services Committee.
Planning for youth services in the schools and through RePlace
Eva Glick questioned how social services funding should be allocated between the
school and town budgets with Nancy noting that the contract with Wayside was an
evolving process.
Among contract items mentioned were: level funding for RePlace at $69 830; further
provision of counseling and assault prevention training; and RePlace's interest in being
reimbursed in the future for collateral contacts. Helen Cravis asked how many referrals
were being made by the schools to Replace. Lauren wanted to know if there was a time
limit for families receiving RePlace counseling.
Lauren and Rick volunteered to assist in planning for youth services in the schools and
through RePlace.

Enablement Committee
Jolley Anne spoke of her interest in making the post office door easier to open with
Steve agreeing to bring the matter to the attention of the Post Office Committee. Rick
Safford went on to report on latest interests of the Enablement Committee including a
new office building being developed by Nordic Properties at 10 Maguire Rd. and plans
for seeking publicity through the Lexington Minuteman.
Domestic Violence Task Force
RePlace has a contract to share resources with the Police Department in responding to
domestic violence. Becket Rhodes, RePlace coordinator and coordinator for the Task
Force, will attend the next meeting of the Committee to report on task force progress.
Computerized data base
Steve noted availability of a computerized data base through HelpNet, a private
company under Bill Blout. Committee members thought that there was ample
information which could be accessed through the Internet, Netscape and the Human
Services Yellow Pages without the need to buy information.
