Luongo; Richard W Safford; Stephen Baran, Human Services Coordinator Absent: Jolley Anne Weinstock Minutes of 2/7 The Minutes of 2/7 were accepted. Reports Steve reported: 1 The single parent group, initially formed as a focus group to provide information for the Human Services Committee needs assessment, is now becoming an advocacy group. 2. Volunteers are need for assistance with the Human Services Fund: a. to write article for Minuteman: b. to distribute brochures (some brochures will be distributed by the members; they will be given to members at next meeting). 3 Jolley Anne Weinstock has been unable to meet with Clergy Association due to the weather; she hopes to meet with them in April. Donna reported: 1 RePlace had talked with Rick White about the possibility of placing themselves under the administration of the Town; no further developments. 2. She and Eva Havas met with focus group of students who convene outdoors to smoke. Some objected to "snobbish, racist and hypocritical" attitudes in the Town; most seemed to be looking for a place to convene indoors, objected to being asked to leave stores and other places where they might like to congregate such as the Lexington House of Pizza. 3. Interview with peer leaders at high school to take place; other focus groups to be considered next time include parents' groups, principals and certain school administrators. Human Services Committee Minutes, 3/2/94 Page 2 4 RePlace has received an anonymous challenge grant of$10,000; they sent out newsletter announcing extension of on-call availability due to increased fundraising success. RFP process /Steve announced that Eliot Community Human Services and RePlace had indicated that they ✓ were sending bids. He will inquire if it is legally permissible to ask any bidders who fail to send in required documentation before the deadline to do so. A proposal review guide prepared by Steve was reviewed. It was suggested that a point system be added so that each item can be graded on a scale of 1-5 Cary Hall accessibility Rick is pursuing efforts to make Cary Hall hearing accessible. Met State Rick reported that there had been movement toward three towns agreeing on installing ( affordable housing at Met State. He entailed some of the steps needed to realize this objective.
