"It was agreed that the Human Services Committee will submit its Annual Report to the Board of Selectmen " Introduction, Julia Novak Julia Novak, Assistant Town Manager, was welcomed by the Committee Chairman s Report 1 Donna had met with Steve to plan for meeting with the Committee, and it was decided to invite Julia Novak 2 An invitation was e' tended to any member who might be interested in assuming responsibilities as Committee co-Chairman Z Regrouping is in order, consideration of priorities; input will be solicited from Leo McSweeney 4 Committee may plan to attend Selectmen s meeting, particularly in view of new members joining the Board Report, Human Services Coordinator 1 Staff training on battered women issues will be arranged Human Services budget report given; planning is underway for distributing the Human Services Fund brochure Minutes_, Human Cortices Committee '/9' Fage Council on Aging Linkage Donna recei red ideas from Committee members far upcoming presentation to Council on Aging "linkage forum on elderly need 1 Census data number in poverty, li ing alone over 65 is '9 of population 2 Implications of ADA Act Linking elderly as volunteers with the School DeFartment--a means of overcoming polarity between the schools and elderl 4 Implications of FEMA grant for elderly Donna and Steve will discuss who should testify on which part of the above RePlace second quarter report Following a review of the ReFlace second quarter report, the discussion turned to needs of youth in Le' ington Eva noted need for a teen drop-in center Steve commented that this had been a special interest of the former Superintendent of Schools. He had sought to respond to that need Steve suggested a Human Service Forum on needs of children and youth and their families Rick suggested a two-stage RFP format which would allow interested providers to suggest and respond to need Subcommittee reports Recreation and Disabilities (Eva Glick.)
