Recap of Meeting with Selectmen
The Human Ser ices Committee presented a budget to the Selectmen including a
slight increase in the ReFlace budget With the amount for battered women
se' ices subtracted since a portion of the Replace appropriation would pass
through to the Support Committee for Battered Women) , the •ecommendation
esserriall represented a decrease for RePlace
The Town Manager had noted that the Town ;id not have an investment in the

Committee members e:cpressed disappointment at Selectmen consistently voting
against the Committee s recommendations in recent years. Did this mean there
should be a change in the Committee s emphasis in the future'
Report to Selectmen
Although in past years, the Committee had presented an e; tended Annual Report
to the Selectmen, this year budget figures only were presented along with a
verbal presentation ,It was agreed to submit the Committee s Annual Report to
the Town s Annual Report rather than to the Selectmen
Human Services Fund brochure distribution
The Committee suggested that Fund brochures go to the following
Council on Aging; Shelter for Battered Women; Food Pantry; Cary Library;
social workers and social agencies; churches, synagogues; Department of Public
Welfare; Department of Social Services; gas/electric company; Town
Departments; Newcomers Club
Subcommittee reports
Council on Aging (Donna)
A long-range planning forum concerning needs of the elderly will take
place on March 25th--contribution of Human Services Committee to be on
the March agenda; Friends of the Council on Aging will hold an auction
with musical entertainment on April 2. Report on Human Services Fund to
be made by Donna at ne"t meeting of the Board of the COA; COA budget,
particularly the Senior Health Monitor program, had been cut in the Town
Manager s recommendations and the Board was disturbed

Chairman She felt that her invol •ement had been interesting and enjo""abie
She listed as accomplishments bringing professionalism to cost-based budget
preparation and reporting requirements
Committee members expressed their appreciation of Renee s contributions that
had brought the Committee through changes and growth
