Corrections to Minutes
On page 2, paragraph 3 the Minutes of 3/4/92 are as follows " It
is not possible to work out a special needs housing arrangement
without market rate units being part of the mix " The revised
wording should read " It may not be possible to work out v
Human Services Emergency Fund
Renee Ann Donna and Steve will attend a meeting with the
Council on Aging and the Friends of the Council on Aging to
discuss policies and procedures for responding to the emergency
financial needs of elderly people
Steve reported on continuing high utilization of the Fund
Renee and Steve attended a meeting of the Church of the Redeemer
Outreach Committee whose members expressed considerable interest
and awareness of need in Lexington, particularly in relation to
the Fund Renee explained to them the purposes and activities of
the Human Services Committee
Steve introduced proposed changes to the Human Services Emergency
Fund brochure Changes will be deferred until procedures have
been worked out relating to the elderly
Bob Cushman resignation
Bob Cushman announced that he was resigning from the Human
Services Committee to join the Board of the Council on Aging
Lexington Special Needs Parents' Advisory Committee
Renee and Eva met with representatives of the Lexington Special
Needs Parents' Advisory Committee and promised continuing
support
Human Services Budget and Town Meeting
The Committee expressed disappointment that the Selectmen had
accepted the Town Manager ' s recommendations for the Human

Services Committee instead of their own As to strategy for Town

Meeting, it was agreed that a statement would be made indicating
increased need in relation to a trend of decreasing human

services funding Acting in their advisory capacity, Committee
members will individually express their concerns to the
Selectmen
Future Committee Directions
A preliminary listing of interests for the Committee to pursue in
the future are
Communication with churches through Lexington
Interfaith Outreach, clergy, etc
Disability including housing for the disabled
Use of LeuHah funds for responding to emergency housing
needs
Analysis of U S Census data (Donna Hooper is
interested ; Walter Leutz and David Gil are Heller
School faculty living in Lexington who are potential
resources)
\ Americans with Disabilities Act
Dennis reported that an ad hoc committee had been hard at work on
educational activities to introduce the Americans with
Disabilities Act including a table for Discovery Day on May 23rd
and a conference on the evening of June 2nd
