The Minutes of 9/ 10/90 were approved
Report of Human Services Coordinator
Steve reported on the following developments
a Steve attended 9/ 13 meeting of the Local Officials
Human Services Council , learned about the possibility
of substance abuse funding through the Office of
Substance Abuse Prevention
LOHSC members discussed what they were doing to educate
citizens about potential cut-back effects of CLT
Steve asked if the Human Services Committee might wish
to sponsor a forum for this purpose Committee members
were not prepared to do this due to the press of other
commitments
b RePlace had asked the Human Services Committee to urge
the Selectmen to issue a proclamation in connection
with the World Summit on Children Other children' s
agencies, the Youth Commission and the School
Department will be asked by Steve to make similar
requests The Committee agreed to recommend a
proclamation to the Selectmen timed to come out at
Halloween when children traditionally do fundraising to
support UNICEF UNICEF is sponsoring the World Summit
Renee agreed to draft a statement for the Selectmen
c Lexington Interfaith Outreach held a meeting on 9/24 to
discuss planning for a soup kitchen Few members of
the group came to the meeting, nor was its planning
very far along Some thought is being given by the
group to incorporating in order to receive a donation
of approximately $ 1 , 000 from Stop and Shop
d Steve has met with David Williams of the Trustees of
the Public Trust regarding planning for a community
foundation, will do more research into this subject
e FY ' 92 budget forms calling for projecting cuts of 3%
and 20% have been received from the Town Manager ' s
office

Interviews of Human Services Committee candidates
Marie Clement and Carla Orifice were interviewed as potential
members of the Human Services Committee
FY ' 91 Action Plan
In relation to FY ' 91 Action Plan, it was suggested that a draft
copy be sent to Leo McSweeney and that he be invited to the next
meeting of the Committee
It was agreed that the Town Manager should be invited to a
meeting in the near future so that he might explain the budget
process
Further suggestions included the following
1 Special Needs Recreation
The Director of Hayden, Chairmen of the Recreation
Committee and the Integrated Recreation Panel are to be
invited to a forthcoming meeting
2 Transportation needs
Representatives from FISH, Lexpress and Share-a-Ride
are to be invited to a forthcoming meeting
