Present Renee Cochin and Bob Cushman, Co-Chairmen;
Leonora Feeney; Anne Irving ; Seymour Mandel ;
Sheila Martin ; Dennis Murakami
The Minutes of 7/23/90 were corrected to show that Leonora and
Sheila were leaving, not resigning from, the Committee
Committee members expressed their regret at the departure of
these members Steve will notify the appropriate Town bodies
Steve reported on fee charging of COA which does not include
overhead , fee policy for Cooperative Elder Services (written
statement was requested from COA) , and progress being made by the
Senior Health Monitor program Renee commented on her impression
of its high quality Steve further reported on need of day care
agencies for scholarships The Committee expressed a desire to
pursue this topic in the future A Human Services Directory is
planned The Committee would like to invite Stella Liu of the
library staff to discuss this
Draft of report on Heller School needs assessment and proposed
action plan was discussed as follows
1 Recommendation and action plan need to be tied together
in some way with needs assessment portion
( 2 Action plan needs concrete implementation steps
3 Role of Coordinator needs to be emphasized over that of
Committee in terms of putting people in touch with
resources
4 Networking was seen as outside of the province of the
Committee since it is not a goal -oriented activity
The Committee should use its limited resources in goal -
directed ways Any meetings that are convened must
require that participants have in advance an investment
in a goal Thus , effort on setting up a psychiatric
emergency system was goal -directed whereas the drug
meeting was not
5 Action goals for possible inclusion in plan are
a Exploration of fund raising for human
services outside of raising taxes
b
Monitoring of existing Town-funded programs
with a view to getting a clearer idea of what
the Town is buying as was done this past year
in the case of ReP \ aoe ; upgrading the
reporting and contracting process
