The Minutes of 6/25/90 were approved The report referred to in
this set of Minutes is that of the Brandeis management team
Steve reported
Sr Auger of the Gray Nuns called to discuss needs
assessment data looking toward establishing an adult
day care center for the elderly in Lexington Steve
told her that the Human Services Committee would be
most interested in participating in planning
The Lexington Interfaith Outreach has been meeting to
discuss planning for a soup kitchen for hungry people
They will collect data by inviting persons having
anecdotal data to telephone The Human Services
Committee suggested exploring food stamps , Temple
Isaiah participation in Bristol Lodge food program
( Beth Klarman ) , numbers on scholarships in Meals on
Wheels program, number of subsidized students in the
school system getting lunches
Steve and Renee are volunteering for the AIDS Task
Force being set up by the Board of Health
( The Metropolitan Area Planning Council will be sending
Steve a schedule showing dates for Census reports
The Committee decided to prepare an abstract of the Heller School
report and announce that the full report would be available
should anyone wish to peruse it The Committee decided to adopt
the following recommendations of the report
collect data with an emphasis on need human service
programs should provide demographics about their
clients, 5 year trends might be examined a task force
could be set up,
emphasize availability of human services to vulnerable
populations clarify what the Committee and the
Coordinator do, compile a human services directory ,
examine Coordinator ' s job description
encourage attendance of the Coordinator at meetings of
the Local Officials Human Services Council
The Committee decided to create a work plan focused on goals
