HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988-03-07-HSC-min.pdf ( Human Services Committee March 7 , 1988 Present Harvey Lowell, Chairman ; Robert Cushman, Co-Chairman ; Sylvia Perlman ; Sheila Martin ; Seymour Mandel; Marion Shepp ; Renee Cochin The Minutes of 2/22/88 were accepted The Selectmen will include information on the Abt Associates Equity Sharing Report in relation to their submission to Town Meeting on Article 55 pertaining to affordable housing A forum including separate report to the Selectmen will be carried out in May Steve will forward Abt Associates report to the Select- men following its receipt later in the week Seymour stated his impression that RePlace was not yet fully committed to its fund raising objective as reflected in lack of attendance at one of the meetings and missing of deadlines in submission of proposals to foundations He was uncertain whether he should continue to provide free consultation On the other hand , a new committee on soliciting industry including Bill Hays and Steve Politi shows some promise , and its last meeting was well attended A meeting will be held in the Town Manager' s office with Steve presenting a draft contract which will take into account previous discussions of desired reporting , fund raising objectives , and outcomes , particularly those outlined by the Town Manager Renee delivered report on Senior Health Monitor program planning A unit rate is being considered Demographic and financial infor- mation regarding current recipients of services is being sought Steve will ask Town Manager to obtain funds for this program that had been committed by Board of Health LexHab is submitting a letter of inquiry related to funding by Executive Office of Communities and Development for purchase of a house for special needs young adults Steve was urged to help write a proposal Activities for this spring include planning for housing forum and, following up on previous needs forum, exploring further the expressed need for coordination in relation to recreation resources for the special needs community Respectfully bmitted, StephenbBaran, Human Services Coordinator Steve Baran discussed proposal to train youth and others in processes and concepts for improved coordination in respect to services to youth Proposal is for $5 , 000 April 1 decision
