HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-06-30-HSC-min.pdf Meeting Human Services Committee June 30, 1986 Present Judy Zabin, Leonora Feeney, Marion Sheep Harvey Lowell, Sylvia Penman Bob Cushman, Sheila Martin, Jan Eustis, Alice Hinkle (Lexington Minute-man re- porter) , Steve Baran (recorder, Human Services Coordinator) 1 Minutes of meeting of June 9 read as follows "It was agreed that the Youth Study Committee might function as a subcommittee of the Human Services Committee These were corrected as follows It was voted that the Youth Survey Committee would function as a sub-committee of the Human Services Committee 2 Steve will send thank you notes for assistance given to hearing to Minute-man, Adams Russell Susan Adler, and Town Office staff 3 Concern was expressed about ansence from hearing of representatives from Lexington Housing Authority, Mystic Valley Mental Health Center, the Crisis Center, and clergy 4. Alternatives for approaching data from hearing were discussed Should the information be arranged by issue , by population group, by connection, by common themes? Lack of communication between providers seemed to be arising as a serious issue Committee members will review minutes of hearing Minuteman articles written testimony, and in next meeting headings would emerge through discussion and use of chart pad. Steve 's outline including needs discrepancies between services being provided and needs will provide a basis Themes and issues will be prioritized. Members who plan to be absent should submit their analyses to Steve Steve will send minutes in mail This will contribute to an Executive Summary for Selectmen and long range planning Selectman Eddison has invited the Committee to protide input to Selectmen's Long Range Planning and anticipate any changes in budget requests as early as possible 5 Judy clarified RFP process with RFPs' going out in September, re '* .4e in November, followed by a report to the Selectmen in December Steve will send out with minutes a draft RFP format which brings previous material in line with Committee' s criteria and provides space in which applicants are to provide responses and information Old format should be sent out along with new draft format 6 Steve reported on his meeting with the Youth Study Committee While the questionnaire is almost finished, the Committee has yet to give attention apparently to issues of budget methodology, and drawing up a proposal as requested by Human Services Committee at their last meeting with Youth Study Committee Steve will follow up They are to attend next meeting of Human Services Committee 7 Nancy Barter had called Judy Zabin looking for a liaison with Replace especially with regard to recent auto accident Steve to follow up with Bill Blout 8 Committee members discussed with Alice Hinkle of the Minute-man possibility of a regular column featuring human service resources Alice thought it would be possible , rather, to show listings in relation to priorities delineated by the Committee 9 Meetings of Human Services Committee July 21 August 11, August 25 Meeting, Human Services Committee, June 30, 1986 (� Present Judy Zabin, Leonora Feeney, Marion Shepp, Harvey Lowell, Sylvia Perlman, Bob Cushman, Sheila Martin, Jan Eustis, Alice Hinkle (Lexington Minute-man re- porter) , Steve Baran (recorder, Human Services Coordinator) 1.
