Crisis Intervention
Beth Jones stated that beginning October 1 crisis response
for mental health emergencies will be centered at the Choate
Symmes Hospital Their approach emphasizes outreach in the
client 's home and close working relationships with local
agencies including the police, fire department, and schools.
John Longo who has operational responsibility for the
Choate-Symmes center will be invited to attend meetings of
the Providers' Council and an upcoming planning session for
a cable television program on adolescents.
Trustees of Public Trusts
Steve reported that the Trustees of Public Trusts had lo-
cated $2,000 in annual interest from trusts which could be
earmarked for indigent or poor people. Sing-Along Chorus
and Woburn Council for Social Concern requests could not
yet be honored unless it could be shown that poor people
were the beneficiaries. The Committee asked Steve to in-
quire further as to the availability of "unrestricted" funds
for human service purposes.
Sing Along
Marilyn Abel explained in detail the recreational, thera-
peutic, and philosophical aspects of the Sing Along venture.
The Committee supported her efforts quite affirmatively
while urging her and Judith Goldner to focus more in the
future on attempts to quantify such matters as time spent
on planning, keeping records, reaching out to families,
and budget.
Replace
Steve could report no new developments on attempts to
obtain funding for Replace from the Department of Social
Services Since the meeting it has been learned from Mo-
nique Doelling, Program Development Specialist from the Ar-
lington area office, that Public-Private-Partnership funds
have been frozen.
Mystic Valley Mental Health Center
The wording of contract for Mystic Valley as slightly re-
vised by Dr Weiss was approaved by the Committee.
