TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
November 9, 1972
PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Vice Chmn Gaughan, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Reed, Mr Lord,
Mr Brenchick, Mr Fitzgerald, and Mrs Hall
VISITOR Mr Richard Michelson, Member, Parade Advisory Committee
Parade Route Proposal
Mr Michelson presented our Committee with maps of the proposed parade route
for Patriots Day with the expressed hope that it would be used this year on
Patriots Day as a trial for 1975 This parade route proposal was developed
to make crowd control easier, parade assembly easier, and parade dismantling
easier This proposal was very acceptable to Police Chief Corr, and there seem
to be no problems with the State Department of Public Works on this plan
Our Committee discussed this proposal at length Mr Michelson said that if we
accepted this route proposal for 1973, the Parade Advisory Committee would
march it off with a timer in order to judge where the parade will be and at
what time
Mr Lord made a motion, which was seconded and passed, to try the proposed
parade route on Patriots Day 1973
Bi-centennial Chairman's Letter
Our TCC Chairman, Mr Barnes, drafted a letter in response to the Bi-centennial
Chairman's letter of October 2nd 1972 It was read to and discussed by the
Committee, and it was approved for final copy The content of both letters has
to do with the duties and responsibilities of the Town Celebrations Committee
on Patriots Day 1975
MISCELLANEOUS
Mr Gaughan announced that the Knights of Columbus would like to re-activate the
Patriots Eve Ball again, and have offered their facility on Bedford Street to
this end The Committee will be hearing from the Knights of Columbus, in writing,
