HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-04-13-TCC-min.pdf 481 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE April 13, 1972 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Vice Chmn Gaughan, Mr Lord, Mr Brenchick, Mr Fitzgerald, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Fenske, and Mrs Hall Also, Chief Marshal Michelson and Chief of Staff Turner PATRIOTS DAY There will be no Lady Lexington Float in our afternoon's parade The Prom- manaders at the High School show no interest in this special activity this year The Committee went over the roster with the Chief Marshal, and last minute details were attended to The Air Force personnel will take care of our P.A system needs, though reluctantly, this year Our own P.A system will act as back-up if needed Mr Barnes will check with Mr Mazarrell as to whether or not the oulet in Emery Park is sufficient to give power to the P.A system there If it is not, Engine 12 will supply that power as it did last year Mr Barnes will contact the Minute-Man Council of Boy Scouts and ask that they appoint a Special Events Chairman to handle the details for future Fiske Hill ceremonies, as they are supposed to do Rep Cole advises the Committee of approximately eight guests to be in attendance for our Patriots Day feastivities from Delores Hidalgo, Mexico Mrs Hall will check on the exact number, and the correct names A contingent of Boy Scouts will be marching the route from Charlestown the night of April 16th and expect to arrive in Lexington in time to march in the Sunrise Parade The Bi-centennial Committee will award the student who designed the winning emblem to be used on all bi-centennial literature and stationary at our program on the Green following the Sunrise Parade, just before the White Tri-Corn Hat Recipient is announced MEMORIAL DAY May 29 1972 Mrs Litchfield will invite marching units from Hanscom and the National Guard Armory to participate in our parade Mrs Litchfield will also invite the Board of Selectmen to march and participate in the day's observance She will write to Mr Daniel Fenn, Director of the Kennedy Memorial Library, and ask that he be our speaker of the day Mrs Hall and Mrs Litchfield will contact all youth groups in town to ask that they march in our parade USS LEXINGTON May 7 1972 Mr A Rex Turcotte has contacted the Committee again to coordinate plans for the memorial service commemorating the loss of the U S S Lexington in the 482 Battle of the Coral Seas This will take place on the above date, on the Green, at 2 P.M Mr Brenchick will contact Mr Broderick to arrange for a flag detail Mr Lord will advise the bugler from the High School to expect to play "To Colors" and "Taps" Mrs Litchfield will write to the Lexington Minute Men and ask that they perform a review for this memorial program Our next T C C meeting will take place on Thursday, April 27th, at 7 30P.M in the Legion Room of Cary Memorial Hall Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary L
