TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
March 3Q, 1972,
PRESENT Vice Chmn Gaughan, Mr Lord, Mr Brenchick, Mr Fitzgerald,
Mrs Litchfield, Mr Fenske, and Mrs Hall Also, Chiel Marshal Michelson

PATRIOTS DAY
The Harvard University Band asked to march in our afternoon parade The
Committee voted acceptance of the group if the Chief Marshal approved
Mr Michelson did approve, and Mrs Litchfield will write to the Band
informing them of their acceptance and of up to $100 00 to cover their
transportation, to be allowed by our Committee
The Fire Department asked for money to cover the rental expense of costumes
their members would wear in our afternoon parade, as they did last year
Mrs Litchfield will inform them our funds have been expended, and that
their request was very late If we find we can allow them any monies, we
will notify them immediately, as they would be first on our list
Mrs Hall was asked to send copies of all minutes to Town Manager O'Connell
She will send copies of all minutes beginning with 1972's for past reference,
and will add his name to the list of minutes recipients as of this date
There will be no First Naval District Band this year, but they hope to
participate in our parade next year
A float application from the League of Women Voters was accepted by the
Committee There will be League members riding on bikes which they have
decorated, plus some hand-drawn carts working around the theme of re-
cycling and ecology
Mr Gaughan will contact Chief Corr about having the policemen eat at
Anthony's this year He will notify Mrs Hall of any plans, and she will
be in touch with the restaurant
The Junior Fife and Drum Corps from Westbrook, Connecticut will march in our
afternoon parade at no charge to the Committee We welcome them with open arms
The Lexington Girl Scout Old Timers Drum and Bugle Corps will march in the
afternoon parade, as well as the Lexington Girl Scout 1972 Drum Corps
Fleepo The Clown brought to the meeting a picyure of the Happy Toes Square
Dancers float, as well as a sample of the music which would be played on that
float The Committee approved both the float and the music It is planned
to place this float near the beginning of the parade, in order to allow
Fleepo to play his clown part in the parade as well Fleepo is the caller
for the Happy Toes Square Dancers float which would be his first duty

Mrs Hall is to type and collate the Sunrise Roster for distribution
to all parade participants
