HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-03-09-TCC-min.pdf 471 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE March 9, 1972 PRESENT Vice Chmn Gaughan, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Lord, Mr Penske, Mr Brenchick, Mr, Fitzgerald, and Mrs Hall VISITORS Capt Lima, Police Department Comdr Edgar, Lt Marrigan, and Adj Daigle, Minute Men Chief Marshal Michelson Messrs Bagosian and Bornstein, Aleppo Temple (862-1889) or (861-9172) Paul Mazarrell, Park Department Col Zeoli, Past Chief Marshal PATRIOTS DAY The Lexington Minute Men presented the Committee with three plans proposed for their re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington which will take place at 2 P M on the Green on Sunday, April 16th Approaches and retreats were discussed, and all present seemed to agree on their Plan B Mr Gaughan said the Committee would need a finalized plan at least one week before the re-enactment Capt Lima estimated that 20 policemen would be required to take care of traffic and crowd control Mr Gaughan will call Hanscom Base regarding using their public address equipment and men to run it He will check into having it available for the re-enactment as well as on Patriots Day, and will then report back to Mr Edgar his results Col Zeoli presented the Committee with a letter of inquiry from the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts They have a band which they wish to have march with them, at no expense to the Committee Mrs Litchfield will write to them reporting that the Minute Men will be in touch with them very soon Messrs Bagosian and Bornstein inquired as to having their Aleppo groups in our afternoon parade, namely their Motor Patrol (11 motorized cars) (6 of which have tow bars to prevent any breakdown delays), a Clown Patrol and Arab Marching Patrol and a Brass Band The Committee agreed these groups sound most appealing, and voted to offer $300 00 for the four groups, with the Brass Band to be forfeited should the money not be enough to cover all four groups Parade participation invitations are now closed - we have reached our financial quota - there will be no new acceptances of groups, unless they are acceptable to the Committee and are free of charge The Check List was gone over thoroughly, and expenses pretty well lined up The invitations to dignitaries will now go out inviting said dignitaries to march with the staff in the afternoon parade The scarcity of convertibles will be noted on the invitations 472 The Lions Club asked if they might enter their White Tricorn Hat float in the Sunrise Parade as well as in the afternoon parade They want it to parade up the avenue and onto the Green where it would be in evidence when the White Tricorn Hat recipient is announced during the program following the Sunrise Parade The Committee was in agreement that this would be an appropriate touch to the ceremony of awarding the White Tricorn Hat Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
