PATRIOTS DAY
The Committee was invited to attend a film-showing on February 18th at the
National Guard Armory compiled by the Lexington Minute-Men The
Minute-Men sent a letter to our Board of Selectmen regarding their
planned re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington on April 16th at 2 P.M
on the Green The Board, in turn, referred the Minute-Men to this
Committee for working out details of this activity Meanwhile, Mrs
Litchfield will thank First Lieutenant Robert J Marrigan for the invitation
to attend the film-showing, and that the Committee will be working with
the Minute-Men on all facets of the re-enactment
The Committee received a thank-you note from Mrs Lawrence E Stone for our
expression of sympathy in her husband's death
Mr Barnes will send in a write-up to the Lexington Mintue-Men paper
announcing this year's parade theme
A letter from Mr Gillespie of the High School explains that the High
School Band will be marching in both parades, and the Junior Highs Band
in the Sunrise parade
We received a request from St Bartholomew's Band Association of Needham
asking to march in our afternoon parade Mrs Litchfield will advise them
that a decision will be forthcoming soon
Mrs Litchfield will invite Norwich University to march in our afternoon
parade as they have for the past several years
The Committee voted not to have convertibles in the afternoon parade
The Committee will march the parade route, and we will invite our
dignitaries to do likewise There may be one or two convertibles for those
unable to march Obtaining convertibles for this parade is becoming an
impossible task Mrs Litchfield will mention this change in plans
in the invitations she sends to our dignitaries, so they will know of the
marching plan in advance
The reviewing stand will again be located in Emery Park The luncheon
will take place at the Lexington Sheraton Motor Inn The reception will
be held, following the afternoon parade, at the Belfry Club Mrs
Litchfield will contact Mrs Moyle regarding the catering of that reception
We will notify the Methuen Cadet Corps and Girls Drill Team that we would
be happy to have them participate in our afternoon parade We will hold
up on their band for the moment, however, and will be in touch with them
in the near future
