TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January 27, 1972
PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Lord, Mr Fitzgerald, Mr Fenske,
and Mrs Hall
VISITORS Richard Michelson, Prsident, Chamber of Commerce
Carl Drevitson, Jr , Exalted Ruler, Elks
Henry Graham, Elks
PATRIOTS DAY
Mr Michelson reported the following
1) The Chamber of Commerce will provide the trophies and judges for
the float contest in conjunction woth the afternoon parade
He stressed that it was important that the floats be lined up
according to their official parade positions as per the roster
2) The Rotary Club will "sponsor the annual Pancake Breakfast to be
held at the Church Of Our Redeemer all morning long on Monday,
April 17th
3) The Lions Club will Sponsor the White Tricorn Hat Award to take
place during the program on the Green following the Sunrise
Parade They will also be responsible for the annual 5-mile
roadrace
Mr Drevitson reported that the Elks expect the Nutmeg Volunteers of
the Groton Elks Lodge to send a contingent for our afternoon parade,
as well as the 1st and 2nd Companies, Connecticut Governor's Foot Guard
The official parade theme is as follows "ONE NATION UNDER GOD"
We have had acceptances from the following groups to march in our afternoon
parade
Fitchburg High School Band
Gloucester ROTC Band and Drill Team
Reading Memorial High School Band
National Guard Marching Unit and possible motorized equipment
Mr Fitzgerald is to look into arrangements for our reception at the Belfrey
Club following the afternoon parade He will report back to the Committee
Mrs Hall will check on arrangements for the luncheon at the Sheraton Motor
Inn and report back to the Committee
Mr Barnes will talk with Chairman Cataldo concerning the location of the
reviewing stand this year
Mrs Litchfield will call Mrs McGonagle of the Red Cross regarding their
station wagon being in our Sunrise Parade She will send out cards to all
Veterans and Youth Groups to meet with us on February 10th Mrs Hall will

notify the Town Manager, Fire and Police Chiefs to meet with us February 17th
This Committee goes on record as wanting Lexington to celebrate Patriots
Day on April 19th in 1975, no matter what State legislation decrees, or what
day of the week it may fall upon
