HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-01-06-TCC-min.pdf 455 P TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January 6, 1972 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Reed, Mr Lord, Mr Gaughan, Mr Fenske, Mr Brenchick, Mr Fitzgerald PATRIOTS DAY - 1972 Patriots Day, 1972, will be celebrated on Monday, April 17th A letter from the Lexington Minute-Men announced that they would again perform the re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington on Sunday afternoon, April 16th This will take place on the Green The Committee and the Minute-Men are aware that more efficient crowd control will be essential this year Mr Barnes announced that the Town Celebrations Committee will be responsible for the. Patriots Day activities in 1975 in conjunction with the Bi-Centennial celebration The T C C would expect to work closely with the Concord Committee on any of the day's details The T C C discussed at length the problem of crowd control for that day's feastivities, realizing that very careful planning will be necessary Mr Gaughan suggested that the reviewing stand be placed at Cary Hall this year, and Mr Fenske suggested that the annual float meeting be scheduled closer to Patriots Day itself GENERAL. Mrs Litchfield has written to the family of Lawrence E Stone to extend the Town Celebrations Committee's sympathy upon Mr Stone 's recent death "Stoney" has been our very faithful bugler over many years, and his presence and bugling will be missed Mr Barnes announced that the Board of Selectmen have approved a budget in the amount of $6200 00 for the Town Celebrations Committee for the year 1972 Our next meeting will take place in the Legion Room of Cary Memorial Hall on Thursday, January 13th at 7 30 PM Committee members are asked to bring in parade theme suggestions at this time Respectfully submitted, Eleanor Litchfield for Marilyn Hall, Recording Secretary
