HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-10-07-TCC-min.pdf 4<52 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE October 7, 1971 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Lord, Mr Fenske, Mr Fitzgerald, and Mrs Hall VISITORS The following officers of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander William Collins Sr Vice Commander Charles Sullivan Quartermaster William Hosford VETERANS DAY (October 25th) The Committee received a letter from The Honorable John F Cusack, Representative, 7th Middlesex District, to be our Speaker of the Day on the Green We are pleased he has accepted our invitation Commander Collins, who will act as Chief Marshal of the parade, will name three Aides, one each from the American Legion, Marine Corps League, and Lexington Minute Men. Quartermaster Hosford asked if the V F W could be allowed more money for their collation following the parade, but it was explained to him that the $50 00 voted at an earlier meeting would have to stand Mrs Litchfield will invite our Lexington Board of Selectmen to march and participate in our Veterans Day celebration She will specifically ask Chairman Cataldo to read the Governor's Proclamation during our Green ceremony UNITED NATIONS DAY (October 24 1971) Mr Barnes will contact Mr Mazarrell of the Park Department to see that United Nations flags are circling the Green appropriately, as well as a larger UN flag flying from the main flagpole on the Green Mr Barnes will see that a United Nations write-up is printed in the Lexington Minute-Man Mr Barnes will also tend to any other such activities pertinent to the day MISCELLANEOUS A letter from Mrs Lois Harris of the Lexington Girl Scouts reminds us that the Lexington Girl Scout Drum Corps will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 1972 and asked our help and cooperation to formulate a suitable celebration The Committee heartily agreed to help in any way Our next T C C meeting will take place on Thursday, October 28th at 7 30pm in Cary Memorial Hall Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
