TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
May 20, 1971
PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Reed, Mr Gaughan, Mr Lord, Mr Fitzgerald,
and Mrs Hall
PATRIOTS DAY
The Committee received a thank-you letter for its participation and assistance
in the mock battle performed on the Green on Sunday, April 18th; this battle
was put on and sponsored by the Lexington Minute Men
MEMORIAL DAY
Mr Barnes will arrange for a firing squad with the Lexington Minute Men
Mrs Reed will contact Mr Campbell in an effort to bring out Lexington Boy
Scouts for our parade
The bus will go to Westview Cemetery on the morning of the 31st, leaving at
9am, no matter what the weather
The Committee discussed an appropriate program for Cary Hall, should the weather
require that the parade be cancelled This program would commence at loam and
would include all parade participants and interested Lexington Citizens
Mrs Hall will call Mrs McCurdy about arrangements for an indoor program on
the 31st should it be necessary
Mrs Litchfield will call Carlson's Florist Shop to arrange for a wreath stand
for Cary Hall, said stand to be returned shortly after Memorial Day to Carlson's
She will call General and Mrs McGonagle and ask that they be our guests for the
Memorial Day ceremonies and parade She will invite (in writing) Representatives
Cole and Cusack to be our guests on Memorial Day, and to participate in whatever
way they find possible Mrs Litchfield will write to the Board of Selectmen
asking that they, too, be our guests and participate in our Memorial Day
ceremonies and parade
GENERAL
To date, the Committee has spent $4315 20
A testimonial for former Selectmen Mabee and Greeley was announced for the
Committee's information and possible attendance
The annual TCC picnic will take place on Thursday, June 3rd, at 6 30pm at the
Hall's -- 60 Ledgelawn Avenue Committee members and their spouses are asked
to be at the Hall's by 6 20pm in order to properly welcome our guests!
