HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-03-11-TCC-min.pdf 440 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE March II , 1971 PRESENT Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Reed, Mr Fenske, and Mrs Hall VISITORS Chief Marshal Turner Chief of Staff Hunt PATRIOTS DAY It was announced that Maurice Healy will marshal the second division Mrs Litchfield will telephone all the invited bands from whom we have not heard for a more accurate participation count Members of the Town Celebrations Committee present at this meeting took notice of the fact that there are several horse guard companies invited to be a part of the third division (by invitation of the Lexington Minute Men) This matter should be checked out Mrs Litchfield will telephone Fleepo, The Clown to ascertain his interest in again being a part of our PM parade Mrs Hall will telephone the Lexington Sheraton Inn to make the final luncheon arrangements, having been approved at this meeting She will also send a memo to Mr O'Connell concerning the peddlers' selling the long horns to the public on April 19th They are not only very noisy, but do interfere with the parade participants as they go up Massachusetts Avenue Hopefully, he will be able to stop their being sold in Lexington on Patriots Day The Chief Marshal has made the request that signs he made up [BANDS PLAY HERE], and that they be placed appropriately along the parade route, especially near the center of town The Committee members present discussed at length the appropriateness of some parade floats Firm decisions on this subject will await full committee review We have received a letter from a Mr Brian Dow of Station WHCT-TV in Connecticut indicating their interest in our Patriots Day ceremonies Mrs Litchfield has replied to this letter and sent along pertinent material Chief Marshal Turner presented to the Committee his temporary roster for 1971 's Patriots Day afternoon parade Committee Members Check out any convertibles in good condition for our PM parade!
