HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-05-28-TCC-min.pdf 423 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE May 28, 1970 PRESENT Vice Chmn Gaughan, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Lord, Mr Broderick, and Mrs Hall MEMORIAL DAY Mrs Litchfield will pay the National Guard for participating in our Patriots Day and Memorial Day parades, and the High School Band for the Memorial Day parade The committee voted to pay the Malden Square and Compass marching unit the sum of $175 00 to cover the cost of uniform cleaning as well as parade participation, due to the poor marching conditions weatherwise The committee also voted to authorize Mrs Litchfield to pay any outstanding bills for the committee coming in over the summer months Mr Gaughan requested that discussion of payment of the wreathes for the veterans' graves come up at our first Fall meeting Mrs Litchfield will thank Don Gillespie in writing for the High School Band's fine participation in our Memorial Day exercises 200TH PATRIOTS DAY CELEBRATION Our committee, as it presently stands, would be the overall coordinating committee for the 200th celebration in 1975 There would be several other com- mittees with more specific duties reporting to us, but working independently A master committee should be formed first, with the other committees following All committees should schedule open meetings from time to time for public par- ticipation, ideas, suggestions, etc TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE (Responsible for regular Patriots Day functions) I Order of Precedence 1 Responsibilities ( I ) ' MASTER PLAN GROUP 9 Develops and coordinates dates and programs, 1 and does research for coordinated activities with other cities and towns (2) VETERANS - FRATERNAL - I Plan their participation CIVIC - CHURCH GROUPS (3) ' SPECIAL EVENTS Plays, varied programs, costumes, etc t (4) ' YOUTH - SCHOOLS I School programs and coordinated activities with other Town activities The above chart is a beginning of our organizational planning for the 200TH Celebration Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
