PATRIOTS DAY
The committee discussed having the Lexington Minute Men lead our parades
on future Patriots Days Our consideration would be influenced by their par-
ticipation in Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades and feastivities
It was suggested we have only two or three convertibles in the afternoon
parade for dignitaries The committee prefers to march as a group It was
suggested we give the military a choice of being driven directly to the reviewing
stand for parade review from the luncheon - or marching if they so preferred
It was suggested we ask the British Consul for a military escort in
uniform to accompany Her Majesty's Consul This would be both colorful and impressive
The committee discussed the High School Band's lack of participation in in-
clement weather at length Mr Broderick suggested the committee write to Mr
Gillespie and ask that he meet with the committee, at his convenience, to discuss the
possibility of "weather-proofing" the band uniforms and instruments Mr Fenske will
talk with Mr Gillespie on a personal basis offering the committee's help in solving
the inclement weather/marching problem, rather than the committee's writing the
aforementioned letter
We received a thank-you letter from General Briggs All bills presented
at this meeting were approved for payment We will meet next Thursday, May 14th,
at 8 PM in the Selectmen's Office
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn L Hall , Recording Secretary
