HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-03-26-TCC-min.pdf 415 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE March 26, 1970 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mr Gaughan, Mr Broderick, Mrs Litchfield, and Mrs Reed Chief Marshal McNamara and Chief of Staff Turner VISITORS Messrs N Cronin, G Cooper, K Campbell , G Gabriel and Mrs M J Donovan PATRIOTS DAY Gov Sargent and Sen Brooke have sent their regrets to be our guests on April 20th Acceptances, however, were received from the Gloucester ROTC Band and the Grenadiers and Girls Drill Team, and both Jr and Sr Units of St Theresa's Drill Team Mr Gaughan stated that the VFW had had no luck finding a band, but that the Crusaders and Swordsmen from Wilmington would come for $50 00 each Mrs Litchfield will invite them to participate Mr Barnes received an acceptance from the Air Force Systems Command Ceremonial Band, a 45-man unit from Patrick AFB Mrs Litchfield was asked to call both Norwich and Wakefield H S Band and Majorettes since we have had no word from them Mr Turner stated that the Davis Blues Fife & Drum Corps had accepted the Minute Men's invitation to participate in the parade Mrs Litchfield was asked to invite the Methodist minister, Rev Lilly, to deliver the benediction at the early morning Green ceremony Mrs Litchfield was asked to write to the Concord Board of Selectmen inviting them to the Fiske Hill ceremony on Saturday, April lith Mr Cooper and Mr Campbell , who represent the Boy Scouts, discussed the Fiske Hill ceremony and participation thereof Mr Neil Cronin brought in the beautiful trophies to be awarded the float winners by the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, so that the committee could view them Mrs Mary J Donovan read a letter from herself and her husband concerning the Patriots Day parade They would like to see a parade with no weapons and no military uniforms The Float Order for the Afternoon Parade is as follows Lady Lexington - Promanaders - Head of the Parade I Sons of Italy 2 Lexington Jaycees 3 League of Women Voters 4 Republican Town Committee 5 Pop Welch Foundation (not in competition) 6 Senior Citizens 7 Youth Activities Committee 8 Lexington Citizens for Participation Politics 9 Girl Scouts 10 Lexington Demolay Four Little Girls (To be positioned later) USS LEXINGTON Mr Barnes read a letter from Mr Turcotte asking if the CV-2 Unit could come to Lexington for their commemoration services on the 3rd of May Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
