HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-02-12-TCC-min.pdf 412 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE February 12, 1970 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mr Gaughan, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Reed, Mr Lord, pp and Mrs Hall VISITORS Police Chief James Corr Fire Commissioner William Fitzgerald Civil Defense Director Arthur Burrell 1970's Chief Marshal Francis B McNamara, Jr PATRIOTS DAY The Minute Men will be allowed "not more than two" of their ranks, in uniform, on the reviewing stand due to their inability to march Mr Gaughan will inform the V F W that we will allow $175 00 maximum d'oward a V F W Post Band for the second division Mr Barnes went over the general plans for Patriots Day with the visitors and asked if there were any questions or suggestions It was suggested that the Spirit of '76 preceed the police cruisers at the head of the parades Mr Barnes will handle communications through the Civil Defense Department Mrs Litchfield will order the laminated, colored trays for the luncheon favors on April 20th The committee went over the check list again Mrs Litchfield has received acceptances from the following Fitchburg High School Band Reading High School Band and Baton Squad Athol High School Band Clan MacPherson Bagpipe Band Malden Square and Compass Band Woburn High School Band Boston University's Marching Unit (Pershing Rifles, etc ) Mrs Litchfield will invite our special guests including Mary Farris at Hanscom Field A budget in the amount of $5900 00 for the Town Celebrations Committee has been approved by the Board of Selectmen and the Appropriations Committee and will be submitted to Town Meeting for approval Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
