PATRIOTS DAY
Mr Barnes welcomed our visitors and filled them in on parade participation
and details, including the parade makeup, route, and floats
Mr Edgar suggested that the Sunrise Parade start from Munroe School , but this
suggestion was not accepted for various reasons
The Sunday afternoon program scheduled tentatively on the Green for April 19th
has been cancelled Our Minute Men will be marching in Concord on that afternoon
The above visitors reported as follows
Lexington Youth Baseball expect to march about 100 boys in the Sunrise parade
The Attic is contemplating entering a float in the afternoon parade
The Rainbow Girls will march in both parades
The Demolay Boys will march in both parades
The Girl Scouts want to ask an out of town troop to march with them, and will
notify the committee of their plans in a month's time
Lexington's Light Horse Club and the 4-H Horse Team will participate in the
Sunrise parade
The Campfire Girls will march in the Sunrise Parade and may enter a float in
the afternoon parade
The Minute Men asked to have its non-marchers on our reviewing stand in their
uniforms This was approved A special bus for the Minute Men will leave from the
Episcopal Church Rectory on Massachusetts Avenue at approximately 115 PM on April 20th
immediately following the Revere-Dawes ceremony at the Minute Man Statue on the Green
The Fiske Hill ceremony has been changed to Saturday, April lith at 4 PM
The V F W are working hard for more participation in the 2nd Division of the
afternoon parade They asked to have a V F W Post Band to beef up that division also
This is under consideration They report their State Commander will be present that day
Mr Hosford brought up a matter of protocol , and that is that the V F W is the
first and oldest veterans organization in the United States, and therefore, should lead the
2nd division The committee agreed this was correct
It was suggested that the Fitchburg High School Band be the lead band in the 2nd
Division, and that the Maynard High School Band be omitted from our invitation list, at
their request The Northeastern Counter Guerilla Group will be marching in the afternoon
parade
Mrs Hall is to notify Chief Corr, William Fitzgerald, and Arthur Burrell of
our next TCC meeting (Feb 12th) and asked that they attend
