The Lexington Jaycees will not sponsor the House Decorating Contest any
more They have formed a 1975 committee to consider a project for that big celebration
This committee will function immediately, and will consider the costume contest idea from
our committee as well as other possible projects They will let our committee know their
decision
The Past Chief Marshals present gave the committee their various sug-
gestions for improving our parade Col Zeoli listed several suggestions as follows
That his Chief of Staff, Francis McNamara, be this year's Chief Marshal
That the general alignment of the parade remain the same
That any veteranSgroups who come as our guests be in uniform
That the 4th Div Marshal be appointed early in order to properly take
over the total planning of that division
That horses again be allowed in the parade - They added a lot to the
parade
That floats similar to the hippie float in last year's parade have to
be allowed, as long as they follow parade rules
That the Chief Marshal keep the 3rd Division of Minute Men in tight
formation
That the Lady Lexington float get into parade line early to avoid delays
That Col Wyman 's instructions of the previous year were very good and were
intergrated into Col Zeoli 's instructions The latter will submit
a written report to this committee
It was decided not to combine the 2nd and 4th divisions as there was really
nothing to be gained by doing so More participation was suggested on the part of the
veterans groups to increase the 2nd division
OTHER SUGGESTIONS Rep Cole suggested sending the Spirit of '76 off early!
More military units are needed in the 1st Division
Mr Cronin is the Float representative for the Chamber of Commerce He
said the winning floats will be duly marked for all spectators to see
Floats create a good buffer zone between the horses and the fire engines
More music is needed in the center of Lexington Bands should be notified
to play marching through the center as well as in front of the reviewing stand
The 4th Division should line up at Oak Street near the burial ground
The Lexington Minute Men will participate in Sunday afternoon 's program, but
the TCC will organize the program Mrs Litchfield will invite Linn Village Drum Band for
this program and for the parade She will also invite the High School bands
At next week's meeting, the plaque for Stoney will be discussed by the
full committee for finalization
