HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-01-15-TCC-min.pdf 408 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January 15, 1970 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Broderick, Mrs Reed, Mr Fenske, and Mrs Hall PATRIOTS DAY The Chief Marshal for 197O's Patriots Day Parade will be Captain Francis B McNamara, Jr Mrs Reed and Mrs Hall will invite all Past Chief Marshals to attend our next TCC meeting (January 22nd) with their suggestions for improvement of our parade Mr Fenske will look into having a remembrance made up for Lexington 's faithful bugler, Lawrence F Stone, who has had to retire from his bugle duties Mr Fenske will check into having a mahogany plaque made up with our Town seal , the Minute Man, and a bugle drawn up and encased in plastic on the plaque The committee would like to present it to Stoney during 197O's Patriots Day feastivities Mr Fenske will report back to the committee on this matter Mr Gaughan is in charge of ordering more tricorn hats for several com- mittee members and two more for the Amvets who were our guests last year The committee has decided upon this year's parade theme It will be "OUR HERITAGE -- OUR RESPONSIBILITY" Mr Broderick will take care of arrangements for our post-parade recep- tion at the Belfry Club The committee went over the check list and invitation list, and each member noted his/her duties Mrs Hall reported the luncheon plans at the Sheraton Lexington Motor Inn are all set The luncheon will begin promptly at 12 noon on Monday, April 20th Mr Broderick suggested a colonial costume contest to be sponsored by the Lexington Jaycees in place of their House Decorating Contest If the Costume Contest is begun this year, an accumulation of appropriate costumes will be available for our big celebration in 1975 The annual Float meeting will take place on Thursday, February 19th, in the Selectmen's Office at 8 PM FUTURE AGENDAS January 22nd -- Discussion of plans for the Fiske Hill ceremony with a TCC member contacting Ken Campbell for Scout Troops from Lexington and Concord to participate The ceremony will commence at 2 PM on Saturday, April 18th February 5th -- Discussion with the Veterans Groups present the combining of the afternoon parade's second and fourth divisions Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
