TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
September 18, 1969
PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Lord, Mrs Reed, and Mrs Hall

Mr Skerry Lexington Jaycees
UNITED NATIONS DAY Mr Skerry told the committee the Jaycees are a bit weary of
donating a tree year after year, and were interested in perhaps chipping in on one
idea with other Town civic groups If any ideas are forthcoming, the Jaycees '
President Ken 'eterson, is to be contacted
The Elks Club will donate the savings bonds as prizes for the Poster Contest,
as they have done In past years
Mrs Uhrig reported that the Library will work with League members to have an
appropriate display of United Nations books and literature the UN Flag flying,
and a display of the posters (both winning posters and runner-ups) for the public's
benefit Mrs Uhrig will write to Mr Barnes, Public Relations Chairman for the
Lexington Schools to remind him to have the UN Flags flying in all schools on Ur
Day
Mr Gaughan will be the TCC contact with Mr Garrity of the Elks to be
responsible for arranging an appropriate presentation of the Poster Contest prizes
VETERA_N_S DAY Senator Leverett Saltonstall will be our Speaker of the Day on the
Green following our parade which steps off from the Munroe School at 10 AM on
NOVEMBER 11th Selectman Chairman Robert Cataldo will meet the Senator on the
Green at 10 15 AM
Mrs Litchfield will send invitations to the National Guard and Hanscom Field
for their participation in our parade She will also notify the V F W Commander,
and invite the Lexington Light Horse Club to march
Mrs Reed and Mrs Hall will invite the various Lexington Youth groups to
march in our parade
NEXT MEETING The next TCC meeting will take place on October 2nd at 8 PM in the
Selectmen's office
