TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE

USS LEXINGTON CEREMONY The USS Lexington program on the Green will take place
on Sunday May 4th, 1969 at 2 PM Mr Broderick is in charge of the color detail
Mrs Litchfield will invite a member of the three main religions to participate
in this program Mr Belcastro will notify the V F W and Legion of this program,
and he will also see that the speaker's stand is ready for use on the Green
PATRIOTS DAY Suggested for future parades would be to have all cars put on their
headlights in the motorcade going through town after the luncheon on the way to
East Lexington for the parade Also, the cars should be closer in the parade itself
The wives of our State Representatives and Senators should be invited to our
Patriots Day program and feastivities, as are their husbands
We received thank-you notes from Rep Khachadoorian, Senator Saltonstall , and
the Fontaines
In future years, the chairs for the reviewing stand will be ordered by letter
in writing rather than by phone
Mrs Litchfield will write the usual thank-you notes Mrs Hall will write
similar notes to the personnel at the Lexington Sheraton Motor Inn
The Commander of the Lexington National Guard should be invited to our
Patriots Day functions always
MEMORIAL DAY Mrs Litchfield will invite Gen Cushman from Fort Devens to be our
speaker of the day If he is unable to do this, she will invite Father McCabe of
Sacred Heart Church to speak If he is unable, she will invite Chairman Cataldo
to do the honors She will also invite Hanscom to send a marching unit for the
parade
Mr Lord will be responsible for the High School senior to give the Gettysburg
Address in the Munroe Cemetery
Mrs Reed and Mrs Hall will be responsible to invite the youth groups of
Lexington to participate in the parade
Mr Belcastro will ask that a representative from the V F W and the Legion be
at our next meeting, May 1st, to discuss the May 4th program and the Memorial Day
plans Mrs Hall will notify Mr Saunders of the Minute Men to attend this meeting
