HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-03-20-TCC-min.pdf TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE 393 March 20, 1969 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mr Broderick, Mr Lord, Mr Belcastro, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Reed, and Mrs Hall VISITORS Chief Marshal Zeoli Chief of Staff McNamara; Mr Sperduto; Dr Foley; Jane Foley Candy Canfield Ken Russian PATRIOTS DAY Dr Foley and his daughter represented the Lexington Light Horse Club and asked to be in the afternoon parade as well as the morning parade Dis- cussion followed, and the committee postponed its decision until our next meeting Meanwhile, Mr Barnes will check the matter out with Ch.itef Corr, since there could be many chances of injury to spectators should the horses become upset from sirens of the fire engines The following groups have accepted our invitation to participate in the afternoon parade 18th Army Band from Fort Devens 1st Naval District Band from Boston Gloucester High School Band, with their ROTC Girls Drill Team (42 girls) and Boys Grenadiers (36) Brenda's Twirlettes (30 girls) from the Woburn YMCA will be invited to participate The following groups are not expected to participate Concord National Guard Unit Sons of Italy Unit the local Masons the Rotary Club Col Zeoli announced his parade staff was shaping up well Ed Turner will be Marshal of the 1st division Capt William Fick will be the 3rd division Marshal Mr Mansfield Patterson will head up the 4th division and Mr William Fitzgerald will be Marshal of the 5th division Col Zeoli would like one representative from the four branches of the service to be our guests for the day They would be in the cavalcade in one car, at the luncheon on the reviewing stand, and at the reception following the parade These men would be recuperating from their Vietnam duties, but would be ambulatory The committee voted this suggestion in, and Mr McNamara will inform Col Zeoli of our decision The annual Float meeting will take place on Thursday, April 3rd in the Selectmen's office at 8 PM WBZ has inquired about entering a float in our parade Mrs Litchfield had a call from a Mr Barr He will be sent a float application Mr Ronald Tatro of Lexington has a '31 Pick Up Truck he wishes to enter in the parade Mrs Litchfield will ask him to get in touch with Mr Beckwith The following dignitaries have accepted our guest invitation for the day Brig Gen J H Cushman and Mrs Cushman, Fort Devens Gen William McGonagle, Ret and Mrs McGonagle Major and Mrs Walter J Burke, Jr , Dir of Information, ESD Gen J S Cody, Jr , Comdr ESD and Mrs Cody Col and Mrs Dale Flinders Comdr , Cambridge Air Force Research Labs Col and Mrs John P Clowry, Ch of Staff, ESD 394 Capt Richard W Belt, Jr , Ch of Staff, 1st Naval District, representing rte, Rear Admiral Joseph C Wylie Capt and Mrs A A Fontaine, Coast Guard, representing Admiral Ellis Gen Ambrose, Adj Gen , Comm of Mass and Aide Col Floyd Trogdon, Vice Comdr , ESD and Mrs Trogdon Senator Saltonstall (hopefully) Senators Brooke and Kennedy have sent their regrets Mrs Hall will collect a set of minutes for both Col Zeoli and Chief of Staff McNamara Mrs Hall will ask Mr Raymond Lewis to represent the Legion at our meeting next week to begin plans for Memorial day Respectfully submitted, Marilyn Hall Recording Secretary J
