HomeMy WebLinkAbout1969-02-06-TCC-min.pdf 390 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE February 6, 1969 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Reed, Mr Lord and Mrs Hall VISITORS Hazel LaPorte Girl Scouts Walter Johnson, Lexington Youth Baseball ; Dr Foley and Jane Foley, Lexington Light Horse Club; Guy Doran, Battle Green DeMolay Jerry Stofer, Battle Green DeMolay Richard Vossler, Christian Service Brigade; Forestine Cole, Pioneer Girls; Norma Martis, Camp Fire Girls Edward Mann and Gene Balazy, Order of Rainbow for Girls Dick Casey and Tom Battin, Promanaders George Cooper, Boy Scouts Fred Kolb, American Legion and Robert Saunders, Lexington Minute Men PATRIOTS DAY Chmn Barnes welcomed our visitors and went over a few points of interest to those attending He announced that Col Richard Zeoli will be this year's Chief Marshal Col Zeoli was Chief of Staff last year The Lexington Youth Baseball will march in the Sunrise Parade with about 90 boys The Lexington Light Horse Club will march at the end of the Sunrise Parade The Camp Fire Girls will march about 60 girls consisting of five Blue B'i'rd groups and nine older groups The Pioneer girls will march again and like their position in last year's parade (not too near the DeMolay cadence) The DeMolay boys will march in the morning, and will march again with their float in the afternoon The Rainbow Drill Team will march in both parades There are about 30 girls in the Drill Team The Prom-manaders will feature their Lady Lexington float in the afternoon parade as usual The Girl Scouts will march in the morning, and may possibly march with the Needham Drum & Bugle Corps as their invited guests The committee will hear more of this arrangement from Mrs LaPorte, the latter arrangement being for the afternoon parade The Lexington girls may even have some music Plans will be announced soon The Boy Scouts will march in the morning parade, and hopefully 23 will arrive at the parade line-up in Ease Lexington in time to march in the afternoon parade after a small group (about 25 men) have participated in a 20-mile hike from Cambridge to Lexington which will begin in the wee small hours of the morning Dr Foley asked about having the Lexington Light Horse Club march in the afternoon parade and was told this has never been done, at least not in recent years Dr Foley wanted to discuss this matter with his club members, and may come back to the committee for further discussion The 4-H groups will have a small participating group in the Sunrise Parade The American Legion will invite all units in the county hoping for a good showing They will again sponsor the Elementary School Children in the Sunrise Parade The Lexington Minute Men will form on the Green at 10 AM for the awarding of the certificate citation, followed by escorting the D A R ladies to the graves for decorating They have invited the Consul General and will advise us if she can come Mrs Litchfield will order three wreathes for the Minutemen's ceremonies The Minute Men will be thinking about putting on a program in conjunction with Linn Village to take place on the Green on Sunday afternoon, April 20th The Rutgers Colonial Guard have asked to march Mrs Litchfield will advise them that the Minute Men will contact them for placement in the 3rd division Respectfully submitted, Marilyn Hall Recording Secretary
