HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-10-10-TCC-min.pdf 377 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE October 10, 1968 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Severance, Mr Lord, and Mrs Hall UNITED NATIONS DAY (October 24, 1968) Posters ordered for stores and schools from the UN in New York were not received as ordered Instead, pamphlets arrived which are of no use to this committee Therefore, Mr Barnes will call the UN in New York and request the original poster order be sent immediately Mrs Hall will return the pamphlets and write an accompanying letter of explanation Mrs Hall will call Ray Lewis and ask that he be responsible for setting up a Color Guard for both UN Day and Veterans Day programs He will be asked to give the names of Color Guard personnel to Mrs Severance for publicity Rev Floyd J Taylor of the First Parish Church will give the in- vocation and benediction for the program on the Green Sgt Stone of the Minutemen will be the bugler for the UN Day program and the Veterans Day program Mrs Litchfield will invite the Board of Selectmen to be present at the UN Day program (7AM on the Green) , and will ask Chairman Cole to read the Governor's proclamation Mrs Severance and Mrs Hall will call the organizations involved in UN Day and procure names of representatives to be present at the program on the Green They will relay this information to Mr Barnes VETERANS DAY The following groups will march in our parade the Lexington Minutemen; Lexington High School Band; Marching Unit from Hanscom Field; Marching Unit from the National Guard Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Severance, and Mrs Hall will call the Town 's Youth Groups to ask their participation in our parade They will report their results to the Committee at our next meeting Col Grumbles, Base Commander at Hanscom, is unable to be our Speaker of the Day Mrs Litchfield will call Mary Farris for a speaker suggestion The next TCC meeting will be on October 24th and on November 7th at the same time and location Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary 1 378
