HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-05-23-TCC-min.pdf 367 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE May 23, 1968 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Lord, Mr Sperduto, Mr Lewis, Mrs Severance, Mr Belcastro, and Mrs Hall VISITOR Mrs Toni Packard, League of Women Voters UNITED NATIONS DAY The program on the Green will be pretty much the same as last year's There will be two or three meetings to coordinate the efforts of the TCC, League of Women Voters, and the High School Due to Miss McIntyre's approaching retirement, Mr Gibson will be the High School coordinator Mrs Packard will again look Into the seminars held by older students to stimulate the elementary children Mu Litchfield will contact the Elks, Rotary and Jaycees and ask if they care to participate in the UN Day activities The Elks have usually donated the prizes for the Poster Contest; the Jaycees provide the tree for the tree-planting ceremony at the various schools; and the Rotary Club has donated trips to New York for the two winners of the Essay Contest We will meet again with Mrs Packard and any other League personnel early in the Fall for future UN Day planning CORRESPONDENCE The Board of Selectmen have written to this committee in answer to our letter The Board is aware of the need for planning for the celebration of Lexington's bi-centennial in 1975 and is taking the matter under advisement The Memorial Day rosters will be mailed out to involved parade personnel this weekend There will be no meeting on Thursday, June 6th The final meeting will be held in conjunction with the annual cookout at the Hall 's on June 13th The time for the cookout is 6PM or after See you there!
