TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
April 4, 1968

VISITOR Ellison F Beckwith - Lexington Historical Society
PATRIOTS DAY Mr Beckwith reported he has lined up some choice
antique cars, not to exceed twelve in number He will give Mrs Hall
a list of the models, years, drivers, and so forth, which she will pass
on to Mrs Severance for publicity Mr Beckwith requested that the
cars follow the Historical Society's Antique Fire Engine, which leads
the 4th Division Mr Wyman said this could be considered next year,
but this year, the cars will be at the rear of the 4th division in
single file
The "Dollars For Scholars" organization wanted to be in the afternoon
parade to advertise its cause, but Mrs Litchfield will inform Mrs Katz,
their representative, that the afternoon roster is set and has been for
a week. If the group would like to be in the Sunrise Parade, Mrs
Litchfield will ask that Mrs Katz call Mr Barnes, the Sunrise Parade
Marshal , to make the proper arrangements
Mr Barnes will check on the status of the Prom-manaders float, whether
competitive or to be in its usual first place position up front of the
afternoon parade Mr Barnes will let Mr Wyman, the afternoon Marshal ,
know the outcome
Mrs Litchfield will check with the Coast Guard to see if they are coming
She will let Mr Wyman know her findings
The annual Fiske Hill Ceremony will take place at that site on Saturday,
April 13th, at 4PM Mrs Litchfield will inform the Selectmen of this
ceremony and request that at least one of them attend
Mr Douglas Maxner reports that the Spirit of '76 is firmed up and ready
to go

Mr Lord has attended to the preparations for the NORAD Band Concert
to be held on the 19th at BPM in the Lexington High School Auditorium
Mrs Severance will take care of publicity Mrs Litchfield will
invite a few of our local guests (military) to be our guests for the
evening There will be a reserved seat section for these guests, the
selectmen, and committee personnel Mr Gaughan will see if he can have
some reserved seat tickets printed to be passed out at the reception after
the afternoon parade This will give Mr Lord a firmer number of
necessary seats to be reserved The doors will open at 7 I5PM The
concert is open to the public on a first come--first served basis
Mrs Litchfield will call Captain Vultaggio and get his okay for our
invitation to Mary Farris, Public Information Office, to be our guest
for the day of the 19th
MEMORIAL DAY The Lexington Veterans groups will be asked to meet with
us next week in preparation for Memorial Day
