TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
March 21 , 1968
PRESENT Vice Chmn Gaughan, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Severance, Mr Lord,
Mr Belcastro, Mr Sperduto, Mr Lewis, and Chief Marshal Wyman
PATRIOTS DAY Our Chief Marshal announced his parade staff His Staff
Meeting will be held on Saturday afternoon, April 13th, at 2PM, in the
Selectmen 's Office Mrs Litchfield will reserve the Selectmen's Office
The Tufts Naval ROTC Color Guard, Marching Unit, and Drill Team will
represent the Navy The Marine Color Guard will represent the First Naval
District Blue Jackets
The Bedford Militiamen Drum 8 Bugle Corps will not be able to participate
Col William T Burgoynne and his wife will attend the parade and holiday
feastivities representing the Lexington National Guard
Mr Wyman asked about having a band in the 5th Division He was told
this is expensive (Boston Fire Department Band) Also, any Band marching
in that division usually complains about the fire engine competition The
committee agreed to let William Fitzgerald, 5th Division Marshal , find a
band at a reasonable price for his division
Mr Leon Burke has said the Historical Guides will not wear costumes this
year, just their Guide hats The Historical Guide Map is inaccurate to
some minor degree Mr Lord will let Mr Burke know that if the Matter
wishes to update the map, the committee will underwrite the cost, provided
the cost is minimal
The Town Celebrations Committee is in dior need of two new notebooks
Mr Gaughan and Mr Lord will confer directly with the Manager of the
Lexington Motor Inn to be sure the motorcade and parking facilities are
available and expected on the 19th around the luncheon time This will
prevent any last minute tie-ups
Mary Farris would like to know about how many blankets will be needed on
the reviewing stand, and when and where they will be picked up
The High School Band members (some of them) will usher for the NORAD Band
Concert on April 19th
The Town will be decorated on Wednesday, April 17th, and Mr Belcastro
will notify Mr Mazarell of the Park Department so the latter will have
the reviewing stand set up
President Johnson has sent his regrets to be our guest on Patriots Day

The buses will begin taking parade participants to the parade start in
East Lexington at 12 15 on the 19th of April They will continue the
shuttle service with the last bus leaving Cary Library at 115 All
buses will depart from Cary Library
The High School Band would like a police escort from the High School
to the Green on Sunday afternoon, April 21st
The Prom-manaders will enter a float on a competitive basis (Youth
Group) and will thereby not lead the parade
