PATRIOTS DAY This year's Chief Marshal is Mr Corydon Wyman of
Massachusetts Avenue
Mr Gaughan stressed to our visitors from the Lexington Civic groups the
real need for bolstering up the 4th Division of the parade This is the
Lexington Division, and we want more marchers He also stressed the need
for float participation, since the floats add so much to the parade
Mr Adam announced that the Rotary Club will again put on the Pancake
Breakfast on April 19th from 6AM to 2PM in the Church of Our Redeemer
Mr Mancini said the Jaycees might possibly have out of town Jaycees
join them marching in the parade to increase their numbers Their
float chairman will be Mr Kenneth Peterson, 536 Lowell Street
Ray Lewis has arranged with the Town's Engineering Department to make
150 new maps for distribution to parade participants These will be
more precise in scaling the parade route and marking approaches to the
parade beginning These will be ready early in March
The Northeastern University Counter Guerilla Group (ROTC) will march in
the parade However, their Band cannot be with us
This year's parade theme is "UNITY THROUGH PATRIOTISM"
On February 1st, when Police Chief Corr meets with this committee (along
with Fire Commissioner Fitzgerald) , several questions should be asked of
him for solutions to previous Patriots Day problems, i e the need of a
police escort to deliver the ladies from the luncheon to the reviewing
stand, and that same escort delivering the same ladies from the reviewing
stand to the Belfry Club for the reception Also, we would ask Chief Corr
that he thoroughly instruct his out of town policemen, who come for the
day to assist the Lexington Police, to respect the right of properly
marked TCC cars, and familiarize them thoroughly with the convertibles
carrying our dignitaries, in order to properly form the motorcade from
the Green (after the parade) to the Belfry Club Last year's motorcade
was badly disrupted
