HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-01-11-TCC-min.pdf 337 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January II , 1968 PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mr Lord, Mr Sperduto, Mr Lewis, Mrs Litchfield, and Mrs Hall VISITORS Past Chief Marshals Neil Cronin James Broderick William Brenchick PATRIOTS DAY The following suggestions were offered by the Past Chief Marshals present I A thoroughly capable person with full knowledge of parades and their workings needs to be in East Lexington to take care of any details He would act as a "Coordinator" to oversee the entire parade, especially after the parade has stepped off 2 The communications setup needs revamping for better results 3 The Lexington Minute Men had wanted to lead the afternoon parade This matter is up for consideration 4 Pleasant Street could be used for lining up a division 5 The Adams School playground could be used for parade line-ups 6 The luncheon will take place at the Lexington Motor Inn Mrs Hall and Mrs Litchfield will make the arrangements next week. 7 We should check with Police Chief Corr about having only one-sided parking on Massachusetts Avenue from Percy Road to the Follen Church 8 More Lexington people and Lexington fraternal organizations are needed in the parade 9 The 3rd Division needs to be perked up as to its cadence The slow divisions within it should keep moving during a parade break to keep the main division in tact Concord's cadence should be discussed at the TCC meeting with the veterans organizations on January 25th 10 The map included with the parade roster needs revamping, so it will aid bus drivers In their efforts to arrive at East Lexington Legal sized paper for these rosters has been suggested 338 II The shuttle bus could be used to deliver the ladies from the luncheon to the reviewing stand 12 Parade theme suggestion "It's a Grand Old Flag" - Final decision next week! The committee went over the Invitation List It was agreed the Float Procedure is very acceptable Next week, the committee meets with the Lexington Civic groups Respectfully submitted, Marilyn L Hall Recording Secretary
