TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January II , 1968
PRESENT Chmn Barnes, Mr Lord, Mr Sperduto, Mr Lewis, Mrs Litchfield,
and Mrs Hall
VISITORS Past Chief Marshals Neil Cronin
James Broderick
William Brenchick
PATRIOTS DAY The following suggestions were offered by the Past Chief
Marshals present
I A thoroughly capable person with full knowledge of parades
and their workings needs to be in East Lexington to take care of any
details He would act as a "Coordinator" to oversee the entire parade,
especially after the parade has stepped off
2 The communications setup needs revamping for better results
3 The Lexington Minute Men had wanted to lead the afternoon
parade This matter is up for consideration
4 Pleasant Street could be used for lining up a division
5 The Adams School playground could be used for parade line-ups
6 The luncheon will take place at the Lexington Motor Inn
Mrs Hall and Mrs Litchfield will make the arrangements next week.
7 We should check with Police Chief Corr about having only
one-sided parking on Massachusetts Avenue from Percy Road to the Follen
Church
8 More Lexington people and Lexington fraternal organizations
are needed in the parade
9 The 3rd Division needs to be perked up as to its cadence
The slow divisions within it should keep moving during a parade break
to keep the main division in tact Concord's cadence should be discussed
at the TCC meeting with the veterans organizations on January 25th
10 The map included with the parade roster needs revamping, so
it will aid bus drivers In their efforts to arrive at East Lexington
Legal sized paper for these rosters has been suggested
338
II The shuttle bus could be used to deliver the ladies from
the luncheon to the reviewing stand
12 Parade theme suggestion "It's a Grand Old Flag" - Final
decision next week!
The committee went over the Invitation List It was agreed the Float
Procedure is very acceptable Next week, the committee meets with the
Lexington Civic groups
Respectfully submitted,
