TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January 27, 1967
PRESENT Mr. Broderick, Acting Chmn., Mr. Belcastro, Mr. Lord, Mr Brenchick,
Mrs. Litchfield, and Mrs. Hall.

PATRIOTS DAY Mr Broderick welcomed our visitors, and emphasized our need
for more Lexington marchers in the afternoon parade
Mrs. LaPorte said the Girl Scouts march six abreast, rather than four abreast,
and that they are working on a float Mr Brenchick asked. if the Sento, Girl.
Scouts might march. in the afternoon parade only, for more number; in that
parade
Mrs Richards said the Campfire Girls will march in the Sunrise Parade as
usual, but she doubted if there were enough older girls to march in the
afternoon parade. They have a float in the process of completion She
mentioned it was rough marching in between the Minute Men and a band. with
a peppier cadence.
Mrs. Hyatt said the Hayden groups will march in the Sunrise Parade, and the
older groups only will march in the afternoon parade.
The Columbian Squires will march in the sunrise parade only. It i dubvious
they will. march in the afternoon parade.
Mr. Beamon said the Lexington Youth Baseball group will march in the sunrise
parade only. He suggested we procure a bus or busse° to transport children
from the Minute Man Statue to the Adams School for the sunrise parade. This
would alleviate the traffic congestion, Mr Lord will look into this matter.
Mr. Beamon also suggested we offer an award for the best marching group in
the Sunrise Parade.
Mr Sisk understands that the American Legion will marshal the 2nd Division
this year. The two Aides will he selected one each from the Veterans of
Foreign Wars and the Marine Corps league. Mr Sisk said the Legion will again
take care of the children who wish to march in the sunrise parade, but who
don't belong to a marching group These children will form in the cemetery
driveway beside Muzrey Junior High School. This arrangement worked out well
when tried for the first time last year The Legion will also need a car in
the afternoon parade for the use or veterans unable to march,

Mr, Edgar said the Minute Men would like to have their Commander greet
Paul Revere with the Selectmen on April 12th at the Green The Minute
Men will organise the 3rd division as usual It was suggested that
Mr Barnes check with the Concord Public Celebrations Committee about
time scheduler, so that our invited guests can arrive at our luncheon
on time
Mr, Litchfield will invite Clan MacPherson Band and the National Guard
to participate We have heard from Woburn High School and Maynard High
School that they are marching
Mr Brenchic'r suggests a meeting of Division Marshals directly after the
parad, (during the following we€k) when criticism, and so forth =Ere
foremost in their minds
Mr Belcastro suggeets "Peace - Above All" and "Above All - Peace" for
our parade theme.
The Fire Department and Police Department meet with us next week
