TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
November 17, 1966
PRESENT Chmn. Barnes, Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs. Severance, Mr. Lord,
Mr. Sperduto, and Mts. Hall.
VISITOR Mrs. Estey
UNITED NATIONS DAY Mr. Lester Goodrich, Principal at the new
Bridge School, sent this committee a letter of apology for not
being -able to be on the Green on United Nations Day for the
day's ceremonies.
VETERANS DAY Mrs. Litchfield will write to Edward Fitzgerald,
Chief Marshal of the Veterans Day parade, and give him this
committee's thanks for a job well done.
We have received a bill in the amount of $150.00 from the Veterans
Of Foreign Wars for the very fine collation given the parade
participants after the parade.
PATRIOTS DAY - 1967 Mrs. Estey came to t his meeting to tell the
committee that she would like her three boys to be the "Spirit of
'76" on April 19th. Two of her boys were members of the "Spirit of
'76" last year. We explained to her that no firm commitments
could be made at this time, since there is the possibility that
some of the original members may be available to march. She will
bring her boys to a meeting in January to audition for this
committee.
Committee members should be thinking of a theme for next year.
Mrs. Litchfield felt "Lest We Forget" would be one thought, taken
from Colonel Ditman's address on November 11th.
Mrs. Litchfield will write to Jason Correll of Concord's Public
Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee again requesting their
share of expenses for some of the parade participants to he
bussed and given lunch on last April 19th.
This committee is adjourned until Thursday evening, January 5th,
at 8 o'clock in the Selectmen's Office. BRING PARADE THEME
IDEAS TO THIS MEETING;:;'
Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Hall
Recording Secretary
